He's on schedule. Shoulder expected to be 100% healed and ready for training camp in September.

I know I've been dying to see to watch this especially after seeing the blue jackets video. Really interested to see the decision making process for Florida between Barkov and Jones.

Tallon stated at interview that it was hard decision between the two and they went back and forth with them. The last interview with Barkov day before the draft made them to choose Barkov over Jones.

This is the first game Barkov has played against Jones, wonder for the few who saw the game how the 2 played yesterday?

Played against Jones in WJC pretournament games where finland beat Usa 5-1 barkov had 1+2 in that game against jones. so in total barkov vs jones 2 games barkov 4 points

I'm impressed by just how many Florida fans are saying Jones was outstanding. That's pretty objective by you guys.

Also from reading the comments, it sounds like Barkov needs to adjust to a smaller ice surface, and or improve his skating.

Regardless, it will be Fascinating watching these 2 progress this year and years beyond this season.

Is this going to be your new Grabovski like thing?

I didn't see the game, but it's not going to be the best game to judge Barkov by. First playing time since returning from his shoulder injury.

But judging by the stats he did decently. 18 plus minutes, little low on the faceoff percentage, -1 but grabbed an assist.

Jones put up a beastly 25 plus minutes, also -1 but no points.

By all the comments I've seen from Nashville fans, they are loving Jones. He's looked hella smooth and shown why he was considered to be a first overall type pick. He's meeting the expectation that was set for him.

I do not and most likely will never understand why in the world it would make sense to compare a center and a defenseman the way some people are apparently doing. If you need a center more than a dman, you draft the center if you feel there isn't a significant difference and that's the end of it. But I get that it's nice if you can say 'I told you so!' in 5 years.

Getting back to the actual topic:

https://twitter.com/UL_Savolainen What this Finnish hockey writer had to say about Barkov's first game in NA tells me more than anything else. According to him, Barkov was already better last night than Mikael Granlund back in January, and he knows what he's talking about because he's stationed in Minnesota. He says Barkov's speed is enough to keep up, but not a strength and still has room for improvement, and that once he got going late into the 2nd period, he had no glaring weaknesses. Savolainen calls his debut 'encouraging' and he's usually been rather honest even when he's been evaluating Finns.

There's not much more sense in comparing pre-season game Barkov with regular NHL game Grandlund.

The comparison is a combination of over enthuisiantic commentators making something out of Barkov being choosen over Jones, and Interactif's propensity for Jones. He's been a pretty strong detractor of Barkov and a strong proponent of Jones for a long time and he feels the need to be proven right.

And that's good to hear about Barkov. I have no doubt he'll be succesful. Considering this was his first game back, that's very encouraging to hear. Although I do question comparing Barkov to Granlund. Two totally different players who share a passport. But I suppose two recent Finn's coming over, makes some sense.

There are just too many assumptions in your posts about me to address, and in an effort to keep this thread on topic, I won't add to it.

For the record, I asked one question in this thread. How Barkov and Jones played since they were in the same game. That's it. You are reading way too much into nothing.
