If they lose this game, I think they should. The Marlies just have his number. As much as anything, I'd just want to give them a different look.

That said, Cassidy probably waits until after they go down 0-2 in the series.

What a joke Leggio is. Hackett should be playing.

What a demoralizing loss, if it turns out that way, with the effort the Amerks put forth.

Hard to pin too much blame on him for the last one, but he's the reason they had to chase the game in the 3rd so...

3 goals should have been enough to win with the way they played, that's for sure.

Yeah, they needed to have this one. They dominated for two periods, but Leggio kept Toronto in it and just played a downright terrible game.

I hope we see Hackett in Game 2. Toronto's ownership of Leggio makes Pittsburgh's ownership of Miller look mild by comparison.

Leggio sounds perfect for Sabres, chokes when pressure on

In a 3 game series there is no time for hesitation. You gotta go with Hackett for game 2.

C'mon, his career .885 AHL playoff SV% isn't that bad.

He just doesn't do well against the Marlies, which is, unfortunately, the team we've been stuck matching up against in the first round the last 2 years. Now that we actually have 2 competent AHL goalies and playing Leggio isn't our only real option, I hope they let Hackett start game 2 and see if he fairs any better. Sounds like the team outside of Leggio played well enough to win today.

Leggio with an Enroth-esque playoff performance? Heh.

They never had a chance against this team. Leggio or Hackett. Doesn't matter.

They outplayed them today, though, but the goaltender let them down. They don't usually carry the play against Toronto, so they really needed this one.

They quite clearly had a chance today with competent goaltending.

Maybe. But that's the point. There's always been something off about this team night to night. Whether it's the forwards not showing up one night or the goalie. Leggio didn't play well but you just knew entering the 3rd period they'd screw something up. And they did. It's a team that finds ways to lose against Toronto. Nothing new.

Amerks doubled up by Marlies, 6-3, in Game 1 loss:
Quote:
For the second straight year, the Rochester Americans and Toronto Marlies met in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs at Ricoh Coliseum, where the Amerks opened the 2013 postseason with a 6-3 loss to the defending Western Conference champion Marlies Saturday afternoon in downtown Toronto.

The Marlies, despite being outshot 34-18 in the contest, used a four-goal effort from forward Greg Scott to defeat the Amerks in Game 1 of the best-of-five series, which continues with Game 2 on Sunday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. Jerry D’Amigo added two assists and Greg McKegg also notched two points (1+1) in the win behind a 31-save performance from former Amerk netminder Drew MacIntyre.

Rookie forward Zemgus Girgensons provided a pair of goals in his professional playoff debut while newcomer Johan Larsson collected two assists in his first AHL postseason appearance. Cody McCormick rounded out the scoring for Rochester and David Leggio finished with 12 saves on 17 shots in the loss, which dropped the Amerks to 19-24 all-time in Playoff openers.

I think we can put to bed the notion that playing in the AHL hurt his development.

More good chances by Rochester. They deserve to be up in this game, they're outplaying Toronto badly.
Agreed.

He's a very mature and motivated player. His effort has never been questioned. All accounts say he's easy to coach. He's one of those players that may develop faster because of his 'intangibles'.

That GW goal was atrocious: unscreened, not deflected and from the point.

Leggio single handedly got them to the playoffs. One bad game and Buffalo fans come calling for his head. This fan base...

His history of poor playoff performances (and the fact that he almost singlehandedly lost them game 1) means Hackett should start.

Oh, and hello, pot. Have you met Mr. Kettle?

He won a championship in Finland. I guess we don't count that in his playoff history. Not sure what the second sentence means.

He's terrible in the playoffs. This is nothing new. He's a choke artist.
