Matt Martin has garnered the respect of his opponents because of his physical style of play, but what about the New York Islanders as a whole? (Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports)

Damn it. I had a Hamilton riding on a three way tie between, Moulson, Neilson, and Grabner.

Yes, some people here do need to see the sarcasm Smiley face...

Matt Martin's last 21 games....

Hmmm Interesting, he's turning into a scorer!

21 games - 2 goals - 7 assists - 9 points - +2 - 19 PIMs - 32 SOG

No pure goonery? What?! hehe

I don't buy into him having great hands. His hands are decent, but nothing spectacular in my opinion. He brings the physical play and helps set the tempo, can also fight and just wear the opposition out in the corners. It's an added bonus that he PK's so freaking well.

He's a great player to have, but I don't think he will ever be able to be a legitimate scoring threat. I've seen him miss a lot of chances that a true scorer wouldn't.
Has a good wrist shot but not great hands. He is a keeper and we better find a way to extend him. I see him as a Chris Neil type fixture. Only problem is that he will be behind so many more skilled players on the depth chart. If we pay him for the intangibles he brings, then try to find him some more ice time in games, I think he will want to stay here. This kid is gold and like many, I would like to see him get shifts with JT, not just one and done, but a few periods in place of flotsam Boyes.

Love Matt Martin, but Colin McDonald is right there with him. McDonald is also better offensively.

Martin is the type of player that is invaluable, that you need to have to win championships. His worth is more than that of a 3rd or 4th line grinder. His physical play, sticking up for his teammates, and leadership make him a perfect recipient of the award. One of the best draft choices of the last 10 years. And one of the best late round picks in the last 25 years. I don't care about his offense.

I know this... he has a game, and he didn't goon it out there, but from a fantasy perspective he looked like a goon. He's not a Gilles type. I get that. I was just... nevermind. *shakes head*

I like that about him as well, and yes I have followed him. I have to follow your team, you're in my Jets Division. Well, not for long... He is a player anyone would like to have on their team. And you should care about his offence, because he's a good hockey player, and when he produces, it means you're getting production from yet another team. It just adds to the multiple dimensions he has in his game.

Now thats funny?.....Can't fight , hits half as much, been given better line mates to work with....your kidding right....No Martin and watch tails go between guys legs...Theres no doubt Martin is a big commodity....Many teams have already tried to snap him up..Rangers,leafs, Philly.penguins will be standing there at free agency.

I made a mistake when I said the Jets Division. Oh and it should read, production from another player Damn, so not getting sleep. Oi.. You lose a father in a pet in the end of March and see you do. Damn brain is failing miserably on me lately. Ugh...

And yeah, I do love the Martin... and I used to watch Grabner all the time. I even own a Moose game worn jersey of his, and even met him on a few occasions. Thus why I have some interest in the Islanders. Man, your team is doing so good lately. Finally it's paying off to be an Isles fan!
