Clarkson worth 5 mil a year?

Clarkson's contract is set to expire at the end of this upcoming season. Do you think he's worth 5 million a year, or is he not worth it?

5 mil on a short 2-3 year trial basis, sure. Definitely not 6-7 years.

If you're asking yourself : LL is definitely going to overpay him and people will cry Leino. But if you look at the big picture, it's fine. When he trusts you, Lou Lamoriello puts in the extra "effort" to make sure your work is held to a high standard. Loyalty and team first mindset.

...no.

If he gets a deal like Burrows' that's already a bit on the high side. 3.5-4x3-4 would be fair for a player like him.

idk if he's "worth" it in the general sense as in every team would pay him $5m if they had the cap space but for the right fit i could see it.

If he keeps his pace, sure.

He'd get 5-6mil easily on the open market.

I like Clarkson, in spite of him playing for a division rival, but I have a feeling that if he gets a big contract it will be looked back on as a Martin Lapointe type blunder.

Considering some of the overpayments.. five mil for Clarkson is a steal and his agent will know that.

If Ville Friggin Leino got 4.5 mil, then Clarkson is certainly worth 5.

I would say 4.5

Anywhere from 4-5

I would offer 4.5 on a 3-5 year deal.

Devils have the cap space.

He'll get 5 million if he wants it, if he takes a pay cut, he will probably get around 4.5. I think he will make somewhere between 4.25 and 4.75. If he hits the open market, some teams going to offer him more than 5 million.

At 4.5 million, he's solid value for his contributions. 5 million is pushing it, but it's acceptable. Anything much higher than that, to me, is overpayment.

This logic is so bad....

So every 50 point centerman is now worth 5.5 million because that's what Grabovski signed for?

On the current cap number sure, maybe. Going into next year and a lower cap number, would be very leery at that price. He seems to be the kind of character guy to know that he has a good situation going on in Jersey can would take a little less...

His play over the past 2 seasons has been worth more than $5 million, I would have no problem paying him that much.

Lucic gets 6 and he's well worth it.

Regardless of how you judge their skill, their play is something that's unique and valued very highly. He'd get at least that much in free agency.
