Raffi Torres back to Vancouver

What will it take?
This happens if the Coyotes are out of playoff contention
What do you guys think?

Should probably cost about a 2nd/3rd. Wouldn't be opposed to it, but wouldn't be upset if we passed either.

I would offer up a second rounder because we wouldnt be the only team bidding on him. A low third that the canucks will end up with (hopefully 90th) is not enough . Teams will match 3rds and be higher in the draft order.

2nd is 60th . Good enough.

Phoenix would likely ask for a 2nd to see if someone overpays. If they are in the hunt for a playoff spot it's more likely Phoenix is a buyer however and would keep Torres.

I don't like dirty players. He hits late, slewfoots, and would just add to the reputation of the Canucks among referees. I would stay far from Raffi.

I'd say a 3rd for Raffi is fair.

The reason we got rid of Raffi is because he was apparently a cancer in the locker room. Not saying it's unreasonable to get him back but it would be highly unlikely.

When Booth comes back and the team is healthy we'll likely be seeing Chris Higgins on the 4th line. If Phoenix is out of contention I'd bet you'll find other teams that see much greater value in Torres than us.

Unless AV pulls a fast one on us and decides he wants a checker on the 3rd line rather than the Raymond-Schroeder duo, like what happened last year when the team pulled a fast one on us and replaced Hodgson with Pahlsson.

Gillis will not trade for him even if it was for free. Torres was not resigned for a reason. He is a selfish player and frankly is not very smart.

Isn't that 2nd more likely to be a 31-35th overall pick?

If you give up 2nd rd picks for pending free agents that will play on your 4th line you're not going to be a very successful franchise longterm...

No.

We passed on resigning him when we had the opportunity and am glad we did. Raffi is far too reckless and takes stupid penalties. Weise and Volpatti are fine in the roleplayer role.

We went through this 50 times already.

Your ..........word on the street............evidence has been debunked . There is NO evidence from any of his previous teams or his team now that he is or was or ever will be a 'cancer'.

Phoenix would have BOUGHT HIM OUT after his suspension if that was the case.

Here is the formula

1) dont want a player? dont like a player?

2) no real reason why we shouldnt get the player?

3) then serve up the ol non provable ' word on the street' .............

Agreed.

Torres is among the very last players the Canucks should want to add right now.

I wouldn't even take the guy for free.

But don't you think that if Gillis liked Torres he would have just resigned him?

I'd be so happy. He seemed to really like it here.

Gillis tried, Phoenix offered him a better deal.

I'd take Raffi back I think his recklessness is something the Canucks are missing, as physical as we might be we don't have the X factor Torres brings.

I'd rather kill off a 2 min penalty for Torres charging then Volpatti for something stupid.

Torres changed his ways after the Hossa suspension?

If he's not a human wrecking ball anymore, he 's useless.

Might have been a term/price point issue.

I would be happy to see him back as a rental for the playoffs.
- Wouldnt be a learning curve to our system like lots of players we see.

- Kassian, Higgins, Hansen, Kesler, Burrows, Volpatti, Weise, Torres.
Thats a lot of grit.

Raffi is a changed man. Watch his assist on Chipchura's goal last night.
