Again these are only a few shots. Night shots are hard to take when you only have like an hour with a pre-production phone.

Have you tried unbricking it?
May is what I'd figure.

The big 3 telecoms (Rogers, Bell, Telus) were mandated by the CRTC to change contracting practices on cancellation fees for cell phones on contracts.

This just changed... (though it does not affect users on old contracts).

Essentially if you upgrade on a new contract, or activate a new line on a contract the canellation fees now cannot exceed the amount of rebates you receive for the device.

So basically cancellation fees now are the device credit / months left on contract.

So say you got $500 off a phone on activation and have a year left in a contract the fee would be $500/36 months = $13.89/month * 12 months (left) = $166.67.

In the past that amount would have been more than double that.
Those changes were actually mandated by carrier (outside of Quebec) withotu the intervention of the CRTC funny enough.

It's been about 2 years those new rules have been in place.

Ya I just thought i'd mention it for people outside of Quebec who are afraid of contracts because now it's essentially just paying down part of discount to cancel a contract.

January 22nd, 2012 with Rogers/Fido I believe. A little earlier for Telus and I have no idea when Bell started, but if they did, it was after Rogers.

Brick was the wrong term. I dropped it on concrete and now it won't turn on. The notification light still works, but the screen is toast. Battery pulls don't help.

A bizzarre problem has started with my Galaxy Nexus, where it thinks it is charging but is actually not. So for instance, the screen will randomly come on and the message will be there that the phone is charging, then it goes away. Anyone dealt with something like this before?

No but it did get pretty wet being in my pocket during a rainy day, definitely could have had an effect. Found some info online suggesting taking a toothpick and press up or down a bit on the male component of the micro-USB slot, I'll give that a try.

Is there any way to change the settings so the screen doesn't come on automatically when the phone changes between charging and not? I'd be fine with that as a "fix".

Not sure if posted but Samsung sent out the invites for the next Galaxy. March 14th at 7:00pm in NYC. Streams avaliable from the Samsung website.

I expect the phone to be good but not mind-blowing improvements like the S to S II and the S II to S III.

I expect a better camera, 1080p display, better processor and a couple other cool features.

On a side note: when is Key Lime Pie coming out? And what do y'all think it will include?

The same thing happened to mine. It would periodically toggle back and forth between charging and not, even though not plugged in. The screen would turn on at each toggle and it killed my battery life - it would go from charged to near empty in a couple if hours idle. Fortunately I had a second battery to swap in as well as an external USB battery pack.

It appeared to be some intermittent short in the USB connector.

The only other suggestion I had - but didn't get a chance to test - was to blow some canned air into the USB receptacle to dislodge any potentially conducting gunk that may have gotten in it.

After a couple of weeks the problem just went away.

Same with me. Mine stopped after several weeks.

But my problem was complicated after I dropped it in water. The ear speaker didn't work. It didn't charge. Had to throw it in some rice for a few days

Ordered my Nexus 4 through Virgin since I just didn't want to pay the upfront cost. Hoping I made the right choice.

I know the HTC One doesn't release until March 15th, but has anyone seen a hands on review that has tested battery life?

I hope not. I'm really leaning towards getting it and I'd hate for it to go the EVO 3D route, which I have. I still "like" my EVO, but it's boring me and I want a larger screen, not to mention all the things the One seems to have going for it; better sound, better camera, polished feel...
