I spent 20 minutes writing and re-writing a roster too, but got bored.
Major moves:
- Heatley traded, 50% salary retained, dunno who we get back
- Cullen re-signed, one-year $2M
- Harding bought out
- $8M in cap space for a top four defenseman
It's a start.

Is Rob Scuderi a legit #4 guy still? He'll be a 34 UFA this summer and migh be an interesting option. I don't watch the Kings much, so I'm not sure. Otherwise we could try and nab Smid from Edmonton.
Pavel Datsyuk turns 36 on July 20th, 2014.* That birthday will be celebrated a few months after the last minutes of hockey he'll ever* play for the Detroit Red Wings.* Next year will be his last in the NHL and that's according to a very reliable source in Detroit, someone close to the organization and entrenched in regional hockey programs.
Why? Datsyuk wants to go home.* We all understand that.* But according to this source, a guy who skates with at least one recently-retired Red Wing and whose family is a staple in the Michigan hockey world, it's not just the lure of mother Russia.
Detroit's defense has actually been pretty good, and their goaltending solid. Their offense has been terrible lately, who'd a thunk that. The Preds and Yotes are not making the playoffs this year, doesn't feel like their year.
Preds are having a nightmare of back to back games. Paging the defense....didn't they allow 7 goals last night? That's 12 goals in 2 nights, and this game isn't even over yet.
And this from a Wings' fan when asked what's going on with Detroit.
Quote:
We suck. Plus Babcock and Holland are clueless.
To top it off we're probably the most boring team to watch in the league outside of Datsyuk.
