Petry understandably wants to be a Wing.

Looks like the Oilers aren't even trying to hide the fact that they're tanking again.

This is my shocked face. Go read their Post Game thread. Its hilarious. Whining about no-calls from that team is irony to the definition. Also love how they clearly are a more electric team than we are, yet even their own fans chimed they played passive aggressive from the 2nd period onward...to include panic mode after the first Detroit Goal. Never mind the fact your team sucks and is just clearly tanking to get another good pick. I seriously wish they made it a rule you couldn't have more than 5 top 10 picks in a decade. Team is a joke and living on their "old days" far too much.

I don't know if this is what you meant, but I thought I'd clarify anyway: The whole organization is a joke, not just the team.

I'll go with that as a better statement, yes. But if you've had that type of quality draft picks in the last decade....sometimes you gotta wonder if its on purpose or not.

I actually thought the NHL might enact some clause limiting the number of top picks a team could get in a given amount of time.

The Oil really have no right to a top 3 pick, again, this year, imo. They currently have a potential level of talent that exceeds every other team by a good amount, and they are just ruining it. In no way in hell should they even sniff #1 again.

Teams like Columbus are trying, they just don't have the talent yet, and they're doing as well as Edmonton.

**** Edmonton...

Bruins sign Alexander Fallstrom. He's the guy we sent to BOS with a pick for Kobasew.

Besides Canuck fans, I've found the Oiler fans seemed to be the biggest whiny/every one is against us because they are jealous/the refs are paid off to screw us/the only reason our team looks bad is the other team plays BORING hockey fans ever found.

We all know that Boston/Montreal/Toronto & Ranger fans are crazy ......but EDDY and Vanny fans take the cake as worst fans.

Red Wings reminding everyone they are not done yet, just a sick goal by Datsyuk. Oilers reminding everyone why just tanking does not automatically equate success.

I think if the playoffs started today, it would be glorious. Like, except for ANA I'm pretty sure the West is precisely the mix of teams I'd be most interested in seeing in the Playoffs. We would play the Blues in what I can only assume would be a bloodbath for the ages. The Ducks would host the Kings, which would be even more ridiculously intense. VAN/DET and CHI/SJS would be fun series too.

And then the East... Most of the Atlantic would actually miss(!!) which I'm OK with because NBC cares about those teams way more than I do. And four Canadian teams would be awesome! Ottawa makes it back, Montreal makes it back after being 15th, WPG makes it in for the first time, and even the lowly Leafs would make the cut. Right now it would be a Habs-Sens matchup too, which would be utter chaos considering how many road fans show up at those teams' games.

Boilers should not be allowed a top 10 pick this year by default they should draft 11th or lower

Meh, this is why we have a salary cap. They can't seem to win with three #1s but they also will never be able to afford the second contracts for four #1s at once. No need to punish them further.

Oilers are a prime example of why it's important to have solid veterans along with young kids.

Yeah... except you can't count on Detroit winning on the road... they're the definition of a mediocre team.
