What I've always wondered is how residents of Chicago can possible cheer for the minor league team of the Canucks.

Haha, I hadn't thought about that yet! Still think of them as Atlanta's. Yeah how could they? Traitors!

Steven Stamkos scored his 200th career goal today. 200 goals in 354 games, the 3rd fastest among current NHL players.

The only two players to do it faster? Alexander Ovechkin and Teemu Selanne.

Wowza.

Doesn't look like they give two ****s about building a competitive team around them because Perry and Getzlaf sure as hell didn't take a discount.

Let's hope Backstrom is willing to take a very nice discount.

He won't, we might be able to offer him 3, but I bet he wants 4

Here's an interesting post. Does this mean that the Sharks won't trade with us anymore?

who knows but they got fleeced big time.

Heater is better then Havlat, if for nothing else then for being a ****ing all star.

The Burns trade tho, its hard to judge but we are winning that one too.

Shep trade we are wining because we got a 3rd for him

Eh I think Havlat could be better than Heatley, but he just seems to be hurt so much. He wasn't great the first year here because of injuries but was awesome the second year.

Perry's contract is pretty ugly, and in no way is that showing a discount. If anything it looks like he pushed for as much as he could get. Same with Getzlaf.

Our teams on the up, their teams on the down. It's kind of hard, imo, to say who won or lost. We both did well, they're just having issues now which is making everything look bad.

I agree with this. Parise and Suter were sought after by a bunch of teams, and they still took discounts to sign here.

Only one team had negotiating rights with Getzlaf and Perry, and Anaheim still had a little leverage if things didn't work out. You look at what Richards and Carter got Philly, and Getzlaf and Perry could have gotten even better returns.

I get the different scenarios, but you can't point at Getzlaf/Perry and call them greedy, etc... and then look at Suter/Parise, who's cap hits aren't that much lower and call them team players. Yes they took less, but it was under different circumstances.

They would've gotten Hossa/Kovalchuk-type returns. Richards and Carter didn't have the option to walk at the end of the year.
