I'm glad RC is using him on the PP, that (IMO) is his strength and something the team needed since Liles concussion.

I'd rather move Liles than any other defender on the team, for a couple reasons, cap and production.

I have a better idea, Trade tobra to another board

Right now Grabovski and Kulemin have been our best defensive forwards, and if they werent perma-labeled as the "2nd line" and expected to contribute offensively these boards would be singing praises.

BTW, the offense has probably tapered of because both Kulemin and Grabovski start only 32.9% of the time in the offensive zone compared to last season at 53%.

Lets go further, both Grabovski and Kulemin lead the team in Corsi Rel QoC for forwards and play against the hardest competition every night.

They can barely reach the cap floor with their financial situation, you really think they can afford a 24 million buy-out

I think Grabo's getting a bad rap. Yes, he is over paid for what he is bringing on the offensive side but Kulemin's (Mark Osbourne like hands) aren't helping his point totals. From what I have seen (including 3 games at the ACC), he is one of the hardest workers on the back check on the team.

He is constantly supporting his D and breaking up or evening up odd man rushes come into the defensive zone. I have no problem with Grabo on this team at all. I would like to see a line of MacArthur Grabo Lupul / JVR when Lupes returns. Give him someone on that line who can score.

I like the way Kulemin is playing, he and Mcclement are the PK and why we have been so good at it this year.

I agree about Grabovski, he has not been good this year. It's best to trade him.

Grabo was always going to be a great player at 3.5 and overpaid at 5.5
I think the same for Lupul and Liles
these contracts add up

To his credit Burke didn't do those long term contracts which at this point are even worse for teams but securing a core that hasn't accomplished anything before you have those pieces you are sure you can build around creates a scenario like this where you are drowning in mid level talent.

moving forward i'd like to see what a JVR/Kadri/Frattin line could do then keep Lupul/Bozak/Kessel together
and if those two work maybe look to see what you could get for Mac/Grabo/Kulemin

Komarov/McClement could be the start of a shutdown line
maybe add a player like Clutterbuck

Liles + for Cal would be sweet

Lupul/Bozak/Kessel
JVR/Kadri/Frattin
Mac/Grabo/Kulemin
Komarov/McClement/Clutterbuck

i just talked myself in circles, im not use to this winning thing

How about performance compared to their salary?

Those goals were dirty and lucky. He doesn't have talent as a goal scorer. If he was working hard why isnt he improving?

Hey, but guys who can get approx 50 points a season, and are good defensively are worth two firsts and a teams best prospect, so Grabs is actually VERY valuable to us. Just ask Colorado fans.

Again, they are not being put in a position to succeed offensively. There is a reason why their is a significant drop in offensive numbers and its because they are being used as a shutdown-line. So yes, Grabovski being a top 6 forward who is currently playing a defensive role night-in and night-out against the top lines of opponents is well worth is 5.5 million since hes doing exactly whats being asked of him. If Carlyle wanted him to produce hed be playing McClement as the shutdown centre and Grabovski in an offensive role but that is not the case. A similar example would be Bergeron. The guy can be a point per game player if Boston wanted him too but he isnt being put into a position to exceed offensively which is why hes restricted to 50-60 points.
