Waivers today: Kurtis Foster (PHI), Mike Santorelli (FLA), Steve Montador and Rostislav Olesz (CHI), Hall (TB) and Barker (VAN)
And nothing of value was lost.

Is someone coming off the IR, or is this a precursor to a potential trade?

I really, reeeeallly don't want to speculate but is DT trying to make salary space?

I assume Tallon is seeing if anyone wanted to take him off our hands for free?

Santo is on a 1-way deal, he's going to count towards the cap per the new CBA, even if he's sent down.

At least we can fill Santorelli's spot with Olesz if we want

this is weird, was hoping he'd get back at least a late pick in a trade...

I expect someone to pick him up after the way he has played the last month or so. Been doing well lately and is a cheap option to gamble on at the deadline.

This really comes out of nowhere...Santorelli did play well the last few games.

So there might be something up in the air? Trade Alert?

Seems likely because there was no need to recall Rallo then. Shore will likely be back on Saturday.

Just because a player is placed on waivers doesn't mean he's magically disappeared.

It means he's been made available to be picked up by other teams for the next 48 (?) hours. He's still on the team, at least for the time being.

Players with certain number of games played must be placed on waivers before being reassigned to a minor league team, or bought out, etc. Either Tallon is trying to get rid of Santorelli for free or Santorelli is going to be sent down to San Antonio.

Wow, how about that? Kinda desperate Jets but he can help in the shootout. Otherwise good riddance.

I thought he played well the past 5 games.

He's not built for the bottom 6, but he doesn't have the skill to play on the top 6.

If he's winning board battles, he's an ok depth scorer.

Oh great, that sounds like half of our forwards. I have a feeling it has to do with Antropov getting hurt last night.

edit: I hear he's decent on the SO, which we desperately need to improve.

Simply ineffective most of the time 5-on-5. Doesn't kill penalties, doesn't work well on the powerplay. Great in shootouts. Enjoy.

Glad we're moving forward and trying to build a REAL top-six group.
