Allen has played great, but it is best for everyone for him to go back to Peoria on the back of a couple of very good performances.
As for the thoughts of moving Elliott, why? Allen benefits from the extra time in the AHL and Elliott has had a really rough patch, we'll see how he is now he has sat for a while.
A couple of games ago I was saying that we needed a road trip and bam. Great game from Jake Allen. Stewart turned on the heat this road trip. Other then his speed, his awareness is increasing which is great for him development. This team needs to give the fan a good game on Tuesday against a good Sharks team.
So they gave that goal to Berglund's ass. Over the past few years we have goals off of Berglund's ass, Big Walt's grill and Backes' nuts. What is the next body part that scores a goal for the Blues?
**** yeah. BIG win. In before Canucks fans blame it on the refs.
Jake Allen is awesome! He looks way more confident in net these past 2 games. In the Detroit game you could tell he was inexperienced but against Calgary and Vancouver he did NOT look like a 22-year old. He's got a bright future. We owe him a huge thanks. We don't get out of this rut without him. We wouldn't have won more than 1 game on this trip with Elliott.
Allen made nice saves tonight and made it look easy.
Oshie made his shootout goal look so easy too haha. Another good game by him. And McDonald came alive tonight.
Great gritty team win tonight. I think the "meat and potatoes" guys like Jackman, Polak, Nichol, Sobotka, Reaves played great tonight and really helped us win with their blocked shots, hitting, and defensive play. Character performance out there. I like those guys.
Awesome game to watch. Winning streak is refreshing. Go Blues!
Blues are doing a better job in the middle of the ice and with assignments. Someone mentioned it in passing earlier, but the Blues still really need to clean up their half-wall play in the defensive zone. Aggressive pinches have been eating up players there, and it's leading to a lot of quick transition chances and extended defensive zone shifts.
There needs to be better communication on those plays to let the guy know he needs to one-touch a pass or quickly bank it out of the zone for a chip-and-chase.
Overall, pretty pleased with the win and with the play on this road trip. Things are looking up.
In case anybody was wondering, they are still *****ing about the non-call on the Backes play where he got shoved into Loungo
That's ridiculous, he was SHOVED by one of their own - Burrows was it? I can't recall, but he was shoved by one of the Nucks.
As for the goalie situation, I don't think Halak's job is in danger either. Allen is doing great - but it's 3 games. He can't do it alone, and I don't think he's ready to take on a top spot by no means. At one point Elliott was the hot one - now look at him. Not saying same thing will happen with Allen, or that Elliott can't come back and do great, but I don't wanna jinx anything. I hope to see Allen more, but Halak is still top choice IMO. Look forward to seeing him back and hopeful for no more injuries.
