which reminds me, if you absolutely had to choose one, and you could only choose one to trade for this season, which would it be?

Top line partner for Petro?
Top line center (preferably with size)?

Top line center. Petro has proven he can pull somebody else's weight

I like any scenario that moves Cole down to second or third pairing (where I think he'd play a lot better...despite boneheaded moves and inconsistency, I think he'd be excellent in that role), and Russell or Redden as extras (and makes it so that we don't even have to consider playing Woywitka ).

Although more size up front in the form of a center is so tempting.

Yes, of course. GM's looking for a goaltender will still take a look at Elliot. Why would you think Elliot has no trade value after 4 games…thats overboard, my friend. D'agistini was also a 20 goal scorer a couple years ago too. The reason I put them together is that their values add up with Rattie's or Schmaltz's or even a draft pick from this year.

Have the Blues ever had a goalie named "Elliot?" I am curious.

The Blues do not have money to spend on player do you really think they are going ot pay Elliott $1.8 million to not dress or play ever? Common sense says he is not as good as he played last year but common sense all says he is better than what how he has been playing this year. He will bounce back and be a capable back up for Halak which is exactly why the Blues signed him. There is no reason to have Allen be the back up while Elliott sits in the press box

Allen will not keep playing this hot, it is smart to give Elliott a game against one of the worst teams in the league to get him some confidence back. There is no way the Blues are going to carry 3 goalies on the active roster for another month. Even if they did that Allen would not be playing Halak is the starter.

Hey guys,

Great game tonight. Probably the most exciting Blues-Canucks affair in some time. Allen was great for you guys, he really deserved the win. Thought we outplayed you two of the three periods and OT but he was the difference tonight. The kid's obviously just a product of the Hitchcock system though

Cheers

Canucks fan, good game I thought.

Obviously canucks fans in our own forum are very hard on the team anytime they loose as unacceptable play.

I am just curious since you guys see alot more of the top teams we have so far this year, just wondering how our play ranked compared to the hawks, red wings, preds.

As far as I can find out through about 10-15 minutes of internet research, no "Blues" team, including the Toronto Varsity Blues, the Kansas City Blues, the Dawson College Blues, the Bramalea Blues, the Winnipeg/Winnipeg South/Fort Garry Blues, and the Espoo Blues have never had a goaltender with the last name of Elliot.

Honestly, I can't even find a Blues team that faced an Elliot in goal, but finding first names is difficult. Although, Craig Elliot play 6 games for the Edmonton Oil Kings back in 1978-79, and they have the color blue on their uniforms...

Image sequence of Bieksa pushing Backes:

Bieksa pushing Backes forward. Backes is off balance (center of mass shifted forward and to the left side) with one foot planted on a hard inside edge and the other foot high in the air. All his weight is pushing hard into his edge.

Bieksa releases Backes a foot and some change outside the blue paint. Backes' right foot is coming down and he's easing up off his left inside edge. His weight is forward over his toes.

About half a foot later Backes' left skate is beginning the braking process and his right foot is about to touch down. His balance center is now directly over his skates.

Inches later the left skate is shooting snow and he's in stopping posture with his center of balance behind his skates.

A few inches later we have contact.

I would say that you are as good of a team as I have seen this year. The Blues moxied up a win tonight. It could have went either way. Luongo needs a little backboard for his 5 hole. Oshie pumped it in the shootout without him even blinking. That shocked me. Impressed as always with the Sedins, Kesler, Burrows, and your d in general. Like the Blues, it seems like you struggled to play a full 60 minutes. Great game and good luck this season.

ROFL well done sir. I laughed really hard at this one.

Not comfortable with Redden or Russell full time at this point. Would like to see a move made there.

I'm with you. I'm fine with Cole playing Petro, but Russell and Redden have been awful. I still think Army is going to make a move

Well played.

Good game, guys. I was surprised with Tarasenko's compete level - Bieksa gave him a few rough rides, but Tarasenko didn't back away (and took a few swats at Bieksa, too). Nice edge to his game.

While I was glad Steen didn't haunt us once again, it seems you have a new guy in town to handle that (Allen). I thought Burrows had him dead to rights on that breakaway in OT...what a save by the kid.

Entertaining game - looking forward to more of them. Cheers.

My opinion on watching the Blues last night is that they still need to get better (and they will) to get to last year's level where they dominated for long stretches. Like the Canucks, it's taking a while to return to form.

That and I love the way Polak plays. Love to have him on my team.

And I think Allen has what it takes to be a solid starter (at least). Perhaps Elliott's days are numbered.
