I haven't followed marlies alot since lockout ended, I won't be happy if he was sent down, one of my favorite prospects, I'll let you know if I find out

Edit: he was sent down to Idaho of ECHL today. Not a bad thing, he was not getting a lot of playing time with marlies, so in Idaho, he will get playing time. Which will help his development,

He has a broken arm, if I'm not mistaken, which he's recovering from.

We're not going to see anything substantial from Ross this year. Next year we will begin to see what he really is. There's just not enough consistency with playing time and opportunities this season, and the team being pillaged midway through the year has created odd circumstances and effects on the team and its success.

For those wondering, THN ranks Morgan Rielly as the 19th prospect in their top 75 list.

Straight from the mag on how the rankings are determined:

Quote:
It starts with The Hockey News consulting with each NHL team to determine an order of the top prospects in that organization. Once a master list of 30 top 10's is established, we ask the talent evaluators to rank the top 50 prospects from the 300 candidates with a five to ten year projected outlook. 15 scouts participated in this year's exercise and a spreadsheet does the number crunching. The voting system is weighted to give the top 10 prospects sequentially more balloting points than those prospects ranked 11-50.

No link, as it's from a print magazine. Should be on newsstands soon, and subscribers in Canada will receive theirs any day now. Will also be available through zinio digitally.

Ok, thanks.

HF have Rielly ranked 16th so it sounds about right to.

I am really excited to see this kid in action.

Does that list include prospects that aren't drafted yet and/or prospects playing in the NHL , but haven't lost the prospect title yet ?

Usually, a player is considered for the list as long as they're not considered an NHL regular.

This year, due to the messy lockout situation, things were done a bit differently. The cut off date for a prospect being eligible was 50 NHL games.

Top 10 for anyone interested:

1. Vladimir Tarasenko
2. Justin Schultz
3. Evgeni Kuznetsov
4. Dougie Hamilton
5. Nail Yakupov
6. Alex Galchenyuk
7. Mikael Granlund
8. Johnathan Huberdeau
9. Ryan Murray
10. Jacob Trouba

THN staffers don't provide the rankings. It's compiled by a list of NHL scouts and GM's.

I don't really follow THN...especially after that hack job they did on Gardiner after he was traded to the Leafs.

prospect rankings mean very little. God knows, how many people overrate the hell of prospects around here.

Pretty awful

But this is the same publication that had Mark Scheifele at 40 in his draft year.

Joe Colborne has 19 points in his last 18 games. Finally putting it all together again.

The first time I read that list I took number 9 as being Ryan Murphy. Now that I have read it properly, I don't have so many complaints.

Great to hear. Think I heard his wrist was still bothering him at the beginning of the season so hopefully that's the reason he was struggling and he's back to 100%.

I have American dish, and have seen him a few times.

A lot to like about a guy who gives 100% effort on every shift, and hits like a truck.

I really hope he has a big offseason training and stuff .. Would love to see him come to camp next season seriously contending for a roster spot

I've said it a bunch before, but very Matt Greene like. Mac is a better hitter tho. Very solid in his own end.
