Colin Greening for Henrik Tallinder

Ottawa has been having some rough luck with their injuries, and looking at the D pairings, it seems like they could use another stable defenseman.

Tallinder has been scratched of late, but that's because the Devils have a strong defense with Greene-Larsson, Salvador-Fayne, Volchenkov-Zidlicky. Greening hasn't been playing well and has also been scratched.

Tallinder has another year after this season at 3.375.

Greening has another year after this season at .8167.

Now, value is obviously debatable, but I would think the Senators would add along with Greening.

Greening+conditional pick (based on GP or points) for Tallinder.

Thoughts?

Id rather keep Greening and I consider Greening a disappointment this season.

Urbom probably gets it done.

Tallinder has been a healthy scratch lately that should answer your own question.

He's been a scratch, but look who is playing over him.

Similarly, look who is playing over Greening, combine that with he's younger with only one NHL season under his belt.

Pass from the Sens. Greening is having a bad start but he's got a great contract so I'd rather hold on to him rather than trade him at a low point for a short term fix.

If your only ****ing argument is Tallinder is a healthy scratch then don't even bother.

Greene-Larsson
Salvador-Fayne
Volch-Zidlicky

are all very capable D.

Tallinder is odd man out cause we are very deep.

Tallinder would play over everyone but Gonchar and maybe Phillips in sens current D

I'm going to just copy/paste the post I made in the Mark Streit-to-Ottawa thread, and make the necessary changes along the way:

Sens have no interest in Streit Tallinder unless it's as a cap dump for peanuts going the other way, which is pretty unlikely.

We're so boned this year, it makes no sense to go out and pay valuable semi-valuable assets for a 35+ UFA-to-be. We'll just ride it out with our kids unless one of the following two trade scenarios play out:

1) we can move some future assets (prospects, picks) for young NHLers with upside who fit into our long-term plans (think the Turris deal)
2) we can acquire some bargains on guys who might be available on the cheap (Whitney in Edmonton, or a "Tangradi for a 5th" type deal).

Unless you're willing to take "Tangradi-value" in return for Tallinder (which it seems like you are not, which is fine), Sens probably aren't interested.

*EDIT*
I just noticed Tallinder has an extra year on his deal for $3.375 mil? I was not feeling him as a rental, but I'm DEFINITELY not interested in giving up a roster player for that cap hit next year.
