Honestly hope that Staal has a full recovery... I don't care who he plays for, I don't want that to happen to anyone.

Big trouble if Staal misses much time.

Hate being pessimistic about this but if it was something relatively minor (read: serious cut or broken bone) you'd have to think that the news would have been communicated to the booth or to the post-game guys. The vagueness of the reporting is leading me to fear the worst.

REALLY, REALLY hope Marc is OK. This is awful.

Squirming made it look horrible. I was legit scared to watch.

I'm optimistic though. Broken orbital

Can't really enjoy the win because I'm concerned about Staal. Even if his eye is ok, there's also the possibility that he could have suffered another concussion.

Hope he has a speedy recovery and wishing for the best.

He's officially day-to-day with cuts and scrapes.

My stomach is still knotted.

thinking dolan and slats need to go ahead and require visors for this team. if you're going to try and lead the league in shot blocks it' stupid not to. i respect that guys want to keep a little toughness and it's hard to adjust, but tough ****. they're property of the team and it's stupid not to add a little insurance to your investments.

I'm pretty sure the CBA would prevent a team from mandating a visor for their players.

I would hope the Rangers give some kind of announcement though.. Everyone saw what happened, there's no use hiding it.

i'm sure they can 'strongly' suggest it... ie visor or minors... i mean they added the glove padding... not sure if that was a player decision or what

The Rangers will list Staal day-to-do for a month or two and remain Status Quo. Book it.

@drosennhl: Lundqvist says he thinks the puck was flat when it hit Staal in the eye so he has cuts above and below his eye and is getting it checked now

No kidding. If you're a guy who's going to be standing in front of the net alot, it only makes sense.

Honestly really don't care about the impact to the team. Hoping Staal still has full eyesight. Gave me nasty flashbacks to Berard.

I'd do backflips if it was just cuts above and below his eye....
