Giroux is looking down right scary today, he could easily have 5 points through 2 periods. I'm confident Giroux finishes with more points than Z, he's just that much better

This season is funny. I love Zetter, but Giroux and it's not even a question.

Giroux had a 75+ point season the one before last. Generally you can't count two seasons in a row, the most recent ones in fact, as a fluke until some time is given to prove otherwise.

Ridiculous "what have you done in this lockout shortened season that's not even halfway done" results.

He absolutely was the 3rd best player, it was very clear all season that Malkin, Stamkos and Giroux were the class of the NHL. They were head and shoulders above everyone else, yes, including your boy Karlsson, including Lundqvist, Weber, whoever.

I doubt hes better than Giroux defensively. That's the one thing people fail to realize about Giroux, he is just as good defensively as he is offensively. Now that he's a top Face Off guy in the league he's a Selke candidate. I see him as a younger version of Datsyuk.

A month ago everyone would've said Giroux easily.

Admittedly, he wasn't as good on defense last year as he was in 2010-2011.

He has had a couple bad moments this year (lack of backcheck against Lightning) but after that, he was really picked up his defensive effort. 10x better.

And he has become a top 10 guy in faceoffs.

The answer is still the same Z shouldn't have any votes. I'm sure Vanek would beat Giroux in a poll too

As a Blues fan I hate the Wings, but this one is easily Zetterberg.

It's responses like this that make me question if some people actually watch hockey

you're just upset that Zetterberg torched the Blues this year so far.

Tough call. This guy's more Giroux's speed than the comparisons that were being made this time last year (Stamkos, Malkin, etc.).

I say Giroux because Zetterberg has back problems (unless I'm misremembering). Guys with back problems are ticking time bombs. They can tweak something tying their shoes, let alone playing a contact sport (though Zetterberg has been reasonably healthy the last few years).

Giroux is far closer to Stamkos than he is Z... You're the biggest G hater on the threads, and you should be humbled after today's game, G dominated Tavares and your team.

The poll speaks for itself. Maybe you're the one that doesn't watch hockey? How much do you see of Zetterberg?

At any rate, you don't even know what to look for. You see Giroux making sick dangles and sweet passes, so you think he's better. Well there's obviously much more to the game than that.

Giroux's defensive effort is bad and at times pathetic. You can't just turn a blind eye because Giroux makes you ****.

You're quick to attack people and be all arrogant like you know best, but considering the poll results, don't you think there's a slight possibility that you're wrong?

For those saying Giroux isn't a leader, or that he is a terrible captain.. It's clear that you opinion is irrelevant. The guy calls out his teammates after a slow and terrible start, and shuts out the opposing team 7-0 the next game. They respect him in that locker room and listen to what he says.

G > Z

Offtopic: I'm not sure if I would put either in top 5 current players though..

Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Karlsson, Weber, Chara, Lundqvist, Bergeron, Letang, Pietrangelo, Toews, Datsyuk, Thornton, Kopitar were all better than Giroux last year.

I saw 'my boy' Karlsson tear Giroux to shreads when they went head to head.

And you're seemingly Giroux's biggest fan. Every thread I've gone into that's comparing Giroux to another great player in the league, you're right there, pumping his tires and defending him.

Personally, I'd take Giroux on the Blackhawks.. but I do believe Giroux's season last year will go down as his best in the NHL. Not a "fluke", but a peak. He'll have more PpG seasons and be a consistent 75-point player, but that's what Zetterberg's been throughout his career and he's been better than Giroux this season, unquestionably.

I'm a huge fan of Giroux, Backstrom and Tavares outside of the hawks, Giroux is a 90+ point player, he's not a 75 point player.

no... And some of them are laughable, especially Bergeron, Letang and Pietrangelo. Datsyuk, Toews, kopitar, weber and Chara were all clearly not as good either.

Some of those players were definitely not better than Giroux. And the only thing your boy Karlsson has been doing is tearing his Achilles tendon.
