Tavares vs. Crosby

If Tavares was on Pittsburgh instead of Crosby would he be putting up similiar numbers?

I recommend editing that poll and change from 115 PPG to 115 points or whatever the PPG would be.

Not in any of the seasons he's currently had. A star player doesnt jump 34 points simply by changing teams. If he becomes a 100 point player on the Isles (or if he is currently, he just hasn't proven it yet), then it's possible he could add 10 or so points in a better situation.

Tavares v Crosby? Be sensible. This is yet another thread that won't end well...

Why peoples think that its so much easier put up points in Pittsburgh. Do you think there is some magical force which increases player point total over 40%. Crosby and Malkin are just that much better than Tavares deal with it

Only Neal is a better winger than Moulson in Pittsburgh and he's playing with Malkin... so one could argue Tavares would have even less supporting cast. He wouldn't hit 115 points, great player though.

As an Islander fan I cringe when I see threads like this. I love that Tavares is starting to get noticed as an elite player, but threads like this are the reason why people around HF think he's overrated.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Similar numbers to Crosby or similar numbers to what he is putting with the Islanders now? If it's the former no. If it's the latter, absolutely.

Fixed.

Anyway, nice to see that Tavares is doing well enough that it's at least within the realm of a poll being created. Crosby of course could be scoring more than Crosby does if the Pens had some wingers, probably.

OK, i like Tavares about 10x more than Crosby, but he is not near the player Crosby is.

Crosby is a player who legitimately can be in the conversation with Jagr and rest all-time greats. (Not saying i agree with the discussion)

Put Tavares in the same conversation and you are considered lunatic.

So would he put up more points with Pascal Dupuis and Chris Kunitz? I'm going to go with no.

Tavares wouldn't be a 115 point player on any team just yet, let alone the team with the weakest winger depth in the NHL.

This poll is a little ridiculous. Crosby is a better player obviously and he only had over 115 points in a season once.

I voted yes.

JT is a great player and if he got some PP time with Crosby or Malkin his numbers would go through the roof

No

The penguins are able to score so much because A) they have Malkin and B) Both Crosby and Malkin make everyone so much better

I love Tavares. I think he's on the cusp of being a top 10 player. But he doesn't make other players play well to the degree that Crosby and Malkin do

But his ES numbers would probably go down considerably to offset that, so no, unless he's permanently moved to Malkin's wing, then he might have a chance.

if tavares played on the penguins with crosby on crosby's line he would be a 130 point player, if he was 3rd line center he would put up 55ish points in a full season if crosby was removed from the team and he was 2nd line center he would be a 90 point scorer
