Why no daytime Battle of Ontario for the holiday? Instead you get ****** un televised games against the Isles and Panthers. And it's a holiday in the US too, so have these teams face rivals for **** sake.

Yep, if it was real the post office would definitely have it off.

Just as bizarre as the Jets are only having weekday matinées on American holidays (i.e. US Thanksgiving, MLK Day)

A bit surprised that those were the scenarios, in both the original and shortened season schedules, when there were lots of US teams sitting idle. I know it must be hard to juggle the schedule around but yikes. Not all Jets fans can take the day off work. Fortunately for me, I was able to record the game and keep myself from hearing anything about it til the evening.

Most, if not all, federal government jobs do not get it off.

Yes it is.
A day you can't spend with your family, unless you book the day off (for the majority of us)

I doubt it, we have St-Jean-Baptiste on June 24th but you guys have Family Day and the Civic holiday (first week of August), so you actually have more.

"Family Day" a.k.a Kids, play on your consoles for the day.

Don't really see how having certain games would matter though.

Just a way to give people another holiday. Some variation of it is observed in Ontario, B.C., Saskatchewan, Manitoba (Louis Riel Day), and P.E.I. (Islander Day).

As Family day is Ontario only (though many other provines have their own) I don't think it would be too praticle to have a battle of Ontario as a mantinee.

There's almost a full slate in the OHL tommorrow They have the stage to themselves.

battle of ontario is almost exclusively reserved for HNIC on saturday nights, because that's when it's worth the most.

as for tomorrow's games, ottawa is playing an afternoon game in newark. Is it even a holiday in the US/Jersey?

Family day is a made up holiday because it's President's day in the US and there's no point in us going to work if the US isn't going to work.
