Something like that.

Again, I was one of the few to even mention Stepan's name on this board before the draft
speaking of centers who was the one who thought Lee Falardeau would be just as good as Bobby Holik/Joel Otto. i know i read a comparison i just dont remember if it was from a fan or someone in management

I think Tom Renney used the Joel Otto comparison. Don't believe he ever said he would be just as good.

He was also a 2nd round pick. He's just not a guy you take in the 2nd round. His ceiling was a mediocre 3rd liner.

I don't know who said that about Falardeau. I just know many of the regulars at the time on this board were not fans of that pick. Big guy, couldn't score, couldn't hit. Great job. Stoll was the consensus, with Duncan Keith, Matt Greene, and Jim Slater all getting talked up heavily.

Olver was bad too. In my draft writeup I predicted he would be one of the 4 2nd rounders because of the Walt Kyle association. I never thought they'd use the first of those on him. Thought It would be Booth or Bickell. Goligoski and Krejci were on the board too. Dubinsky was being talked up a bunch and most of the board was in his corner. That was our saving grace to that round. Never liked the Byers pick, history of injuries ran in the family just like Sauer.

It's just amazing how teams look at players with size and draft them based only on that when they have no skill whatsoever. What are the chances these players make it in the NHL as anything more than a 4th liner, 0.00001%? Then draft them in the 2nd? WTF?

Thankfully Sather didn't hire Burke as a scout or in any capacity. Sather wanted to hire Burke after the lockout in 2005 to help him run the Rangers. Burke wanted the GM title. Dolan wouldn't OK it.

Dane Byers, Lee Falardeau, Bruce Graham, Evgeney Grachev, Billy Ryan, Ken Roche, Hugh Jessiman... all draft picks from round 1-3 that never played 1 game in the NHL at least Brodie Dupont played 1 game in the NHL

Jessiman has two career NHL games with the Panthers.

Yes, very true. Forgot about Grachev's cup of coffee with us and that he actually played for the Blues. I remember when everyone thought that he'd become some assassin hockey player or something.

Hansen on Hossa practicing:

"It doesn't surprise me, but that's probably all I should say"

What a **********.

Love the Chicago vs Vancouver rivalry. Sometimes I think its better than Pittsburgh/Philly. No problem openly rooting for the Hawks either, not the case for the other three.

What is the Hawks regular season record with Oduya in the line-up? 25-2-7

He was acquired from Winnipeg at the trading deadline for a #2 and #3. The Hawks re-signed him in the summer. 3 years/$10.15M.

Quote:
This season, the pair of Oduya and Niklas Hjalmarsson has been outstanding.

"They seemed to have found a chemistry together," Bowman said.

They're both mobile, they can play against anybody and right now they lead Blackhawks defensemen in plus/minus with a combined plus-16. According to behindthenet.ca, those two consistently face the opposition's best players, with a Corsi relative Quality of Competition of 1.633 (Hjalmarsson) and 1.505 (Oduya). It's the highest of any Blackhawks D-pair. Coach Joel Quenneville leans heavily on Oduya's pair in the defensive zone, with Oduya's offensive zone start percentage just 47.7 percent. His offensive zone finish is 52.4 percent.

Another reason for Chicago's success this season is a greatly improved penalty kill, and Oduya and Hjalmarsson have been a big part of that as well. After finishing last season No. 27 in the league at 78.1 percent on the PK, Chicago has jumped to No. 3 at 87.9 percent.

if Grachev was such a good prospect, he would have been in the NHL or on the cusp of making it as a full time player.... 16 pts in 51 games in AHL is not good at all for a 3rd year AHL player.... remember it was Cody Hodgson and Matt Duchene that made him look good in juniors... those 2 higher draft picks already regulars in the NHL.. that speaks volumes..

The Hawks pretty much became my 2nd favorite team this past year after slowly beginning to pay more attention to them since 09.

the Hawks have a great future as well as what they have now... i love how the Hawks Penguins and Capitals can be bad for a while and turn good with good talented young players while the Islanders continue to suck and all they have is Tavares imagine if the Islanders had a good management and scouting departments...

2004 draft. Blake Comeau. He scored 41 goals in two years for the Islanders a few years ago. Comeau was waived. Hasn't found his game in Calgary. What happened to that guy?

For teams like the Penguins and Capitals, this is a massive understatement. The Islanders have not been managing well, but they have not had nearly the amount of luck that these other two have had.

Just think how deep their prospect pool is too. Saad is playing now, they got Teravainen, etc.

It's probably best to keep the personal lives of some players out of here.

Especially if there is nothing to back it up. Libel isn't okay.
