Five years from now: Future lineup

After seeing some of our prospects at the WJC, I thought this would be fun.

Gallagher-Galchenyuk-Pacioretty
Collberg-Eller-Lekhonen
McCarron-De la Rose-Andrighetto
Crisp-Vail-Bournival

Tinordi-Subban
Emelin-Gorges
Beaulieu-Pateryn/Dietz/Thrower

Price
Fucale

Bournival will be a top 2 center, get rid of Eller and McCarron because they don't fit in this team. Tinordi is super-overrated, won't be a top line d unless if he drastically improves, his size doesn't really mean anything when Murray is currently better than him (skill terms)

Pacioretty - Desharnais - A russian 7th rounder
Lehkonen - Center traded for Beaulieu - UFA Top 6 Forward
De La Rose - Eller - Gallagher
Someone who we expected to be a bust - Bournival - McCarron

Francis Bouillon's clone - Subban
Tinordi - Diaz
A slowed down Gorges that will be hated - Ellis

Robert Mayer
Zach Fucale

In 5 years,
-Price will ask for a trade
-Alex Galchenyuk will bolt to Russia after knowing that Desharnais is bribing the future coach to keep giving him quality ice-time and reduce Chucky's ice time to 4th line duty.
-Collberg will go back to Sweden
-The 7th rounder Russian will be accused of being lazy
-The orginization's love for Mayer will propel him as the team's starter, which will cause many FreeFucale chants for many years to come.
-Beaulieu will be traded and become a Norris Trophy winner by having a 200 point season, leading to the fans demanding the resignation of the GM and owner.
-The Center traded for Beaulieu will crumble to pression and will have a 5 year no-goal slump.
-In Year 3000, Time Travel will be invented. And some evil man will go back in time, find some Bouillon DNA, create his clone and send that clone in the past where he'll start becoming a hockey player under a new name and eventually become Subban's line-mate.

Expect the unexpected

Anything we come up with will be ridiculous in 5 years.

A good chance Galchenyuk, Subban, Price, Gallagher, Eller and Pacioretty will still be here. But one or two of them will probably be gone. Maybe 3.

Tinordi or Beaulieu will be with the team. But not both.

De la Rose or Collberg will be progressing and one of them will be on the team. The other will be a bust.

Hudon will be the new Desharnais.

Fucale will challenge Price. Most will root for Fucale.

Emelin will be traded or will be a burden like Volchenkov is.

Bournival will play on the 3rd line.

The others will be retired or out of the league (Briere, Gionta, Parros, Bourque, Moen, Bouillon, Markov, Murray, Budaj) or playing elsewhere (Diaz having a nice career with another team). The rest of the team will be random players from other teams via UFA or trades.

Prust will be gone as a UFA. White too. Gorges will be the captain, even though we will all hate him.

Feel free to quote me in January 2019.

Look at the way Cup Contenders are built. They have 3 lines than can play 17-20 minutes a night. Look at Boston, Philly in 2010, LA. I have a feeling Plekanec's game will age well the same way it did for a guy like Patrik Elias. Both of them were relatively healthy their whole career and their hockey sense is what makes them so great. So appart from losing a bit of speed due to age, I still think Plekanec can contribute a solid 50 pts and bring the same consistency he's been giving us since 2005. As for Eller, I think that line would be a great checking line that can all give us 35 to 50 pts. What they will bring in a series is more than what they give on paper.

And people think we're small now....

Gallagher
Reway
Collberg
Andrighetto
Hudon
Lehkonen

If we have all of them, we will be smaller then than we are now. As soon as we struggle everyone will be wanting to deal them.

Plus I don't know if I would want to have the team too European. Not that it's a bad thing but I will like to keep going bigger and grittier.
