He also has a lot of borderline ones that could go either way

Exactly
Brown definitely plays on the edge and dives, but there is nothing wrong at all with his hit on Sedin or that last one. Even the first hit isn't that bad (given the playoff context and how much of a group of &%^$es the Coyotes were). Best way to deal with a guy like Brown is to do what Ethan Moreau did to him years ago.

normally I agree with playing the hot hand. lol
I just think they have to give Dubnyk the ball as much as they can. Khabi is gone after this year (I think)
they need to know Dubnyk can carry the mail going forward and they need to give him every chance they can this year to let him show he's the man.
The Oilers have to end any goalie controversy once and for all going forward, and they have to know if DD is their guy. If he is, great. they can just look at the back up situation. if he isn't then they have another huge issue.
So far he is showing he can be #1. not just 1B material, but a guy than can play 60-70 games in a season. I'd really like to see him start at least 40 games this year so we can quit having the discussion about him.

wasn't it Brown who gave Smid a whiplash with a cheap shot at the end of last year?

I bet MPS starts on the fourth line and gets slotted into the top-6 a few shifts into the game unless Hartikainen comes out and makes an impact right away.

actually, a lot of people think Ovi is a dirty player and got away with more than he should because of his star status.
I would agree.
my opinion is he is a bit of a dirty player and I feel he is a diver, but I'd still love to have him on the oilers. same as doan in his prime.
(%$^$%# oilers management., &$#%^ steve kelley. that still ticks me off.)

Because unlike Brown he doesn't dive, and if he makes a bad hit, he answers the bell. That's why guys like Doan/Iginla/Lucic get respect and Brown/Hartnell don't

Lost in the excitement of LA's first visit since last game's reffing / Yakupov controversies, is that Tom Kowal is one of the refs again.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!

Imagine this team with Hartikainen and a guy like Moreau was in his prime. Who do we have in the system that has the size and speed that Moreau had when he came here? We need that IMHO.

could be interesting.
at least we'll see if he had a bad game or two, is a bad ref, and if he favours one team over the other.
who knows. maybe his supervisor read him the riot act and he'll be much better today.

His supervisor Mick McGeough?

Tom Kowal has always been beyond terrible.

heh. I know. just trying to be positive. at least we can console ourselves that he is just a poor ref and not biased against edmonton. I always thought McGeough didn't like edmonton.

I too could watch that hit on Sedin over and over... actually I did. I also don't see it as a dirty hit, just hard and the sister wasn't ready for it. Given the way Canucks play, they deserve any and all borderline play they receive.

Funny that the next clip is Brown and Doan - who is a dirty player in his own right.
