haha, is this part of the 'throw it against the wall until something sticks' lineup method?

Seriously though, i wonder if this means Marleau/Handzus is out, or maybe they just were not super thrilled with Pelech's lumbering around the ice.

I don't think the coaching staff is too thrilled with Havlat right now either.

And I'm guessing Pelech was sent back to Worcester.

Marleau, Thornton, Clowe, and Havlat have been no shows for awhile now.

Havlat has not been great but I think he needs to get some consistency with his line mates. He never gets a chance to build chemistry. He was clicking with Couture early in the season and then they moved him down to the 3rd.

I am hoping they sit Clowe ... he has been moved from lines 1-3 without showing much. Don't this he is a good fit on the 4th line either. If they do bench him, I hope that does for him what it did for Wingels.

Doubt TMac sits Clowe though.

Havlat got demoted to the 4th line at the end of the CBJ game. Gomez has been ineffective lately. They already hate Galiardi. It could be anyone sitting at this point.

I know, so true. I wish Todd would just go to;

Pavs/Joe/Patty
Havlat/Couture/Sheppard
Clowe/Gomez//Kennedy
Desi/Handzus/Burish

Gomez is just being so wasted on the fourth line it is incredible they continue with this. If they expect him to perform in any way on the fourth line, then they never should have signed him in the first place. And the commitment to Handzus on the third has gone on for too long now. Are they going to wait for game number 20 for his next goal? And you know, just keep our top line together. Other teams maintain their lines as is but, when we were rolling then came up with a couple soft games, the big change occurs. Awful coaching if you ask me, seriously.

Good to see TM has no problem dropping him down, meanwhile Clowe continues to get top six minutes (including a bump up to the top line!) and a bunch of PP time despite playing like **** the entire year.

True, but I do think much of it comes down to the line he is on for 95% of the game. Anybody would look in-effective on our 4th line. I am still surprised, D.W. wouldn't pay Wingels some extra dollars (to save some face via that awful McGinn deal) and paid the money to Burish instead.

Gomez is tough to place. He clearly doesn't warrant top 6 placement right now but the 3rd line has been doing well so you don't want to break that up. But if you take him out of the lineup entirely you can't use him on the 2nd PP unit.

I'm guessing Handzus is out. I'm not ready to go "chicken little" like the rest of you.

Sadly Handzus is the one I feel is giving the most effort lately.

How are we accommodating this move? Everyone on the current roster would have to pass through waivers, no?

He blocked a few of Jack Johnson's slap shots last night..saw him shaking his foot out on one...then Kurz reported him limping post game. Hes been very good lately I agree.

You can just copy and paste that anytime one of the Sharks 4th liners is mentioned!

Sadly, they do have the personnel to have a good 4th line, I just don't know if they'll ever give 'em a try.

Who did you have in mind?
I personally want to see
Galiardi - Gomez - Sheppard
Wingels - Desjardins - Burish

That 4th line reminds me of the 3rd/4th line in the PO (swap Burish with Winnik), which looked good.

In my opinion, i've noticed more effort out of the Wingels-Handzus-Sheppard line than most during this streak... They've created a lot of opportunities.

Petrecki did and Irwin didn't have to. We should be good IIRC.

EDIT: Forgot Pelech, but I assume he's the one.

I wouldn't mess with the 3rd line right now, they've been the Sharks best line for the past 3 games (which is really not good!).

For now, I'd like to see them go with Galiardi-Gomez-Desi.
I really think Galiardi has some untapped potential but he needs to get consistent playing time. I also think Wingels has the ability to put up 15+ goals a season and is going to be a perfect 3rd liner for a long time.

I have a LOT of thoughts on Sheppard but I'll save those 'til after he's played more than 7 or 8 games.

The biggest problem I have with McLellan is his irrevocable favoritism. When looking at the Sharks top 6 I have a hard time understanding how Havlat can be viewed as the 6th best forward. Of all the top 6 forwards he's the only one who's ever placed on the 3rd line, or lower as we saw last night. He's also on the 2nd powerplay unit which somehow is devoid of shooters, except maybe Burns, and he wasn't there at the beginning of the season. I think it's a total waste of talent to have someone of Havlat's skill level not being put in the best situation to succeed. It hurts the player and it hurts the team.
