Best Northeast team besides Boston?

I'd say Ottawa.

Would say Ottawa with Spezza in the lineup, however, I give the slight edge to the Leafs right now

As a Bruins fan, I'd say Montreal. They are gonna be a good team this year

I think Ottawa. Just need Spezza back, or some replacement.

On paper, it's Buffalo. In reality, it could be anyone.

Senators but losing Spezza is going to hurt them big time

With Spezza in the line up, I'd say Ottawa. At this point, I don't think the gap between Ottawa, Toronto, Buffalo and Montreal are that far apart. The only surprise that the Northeast could give me is if Boston didn't win the division (which is extremely unlikely).

I'd say Ottawa with Spezza in their line up, right now it's the Leafs though.

Ottawa
Toronto/Montreal - it's really a toss up depending on many circumstances.
Buffalo - looks better on paper than TOR/MTL but can't get it together.

Basically what mostly everyone's said. Right now, it sure as hell isn't Ottawa.

Ottawa is a good team when Spezza is healthy.
Outside of Boston and Ottawa though this is a pretty weak division, IMO.

I'd say Ottawa even if they are behind Toronto at the moment.

Pretty easily Ottawa IMO. The question is can they stay afloat until Spezza is back.

It alwats the Leafs 10 games into the season. Its the rest of the year thats usually the problem for them. The shortened schedule might actually let them squeeze in as long as their fall isnt too dramatic.

Or who knows, maybe they finally actually keep it up.

It's not always* the case though. Last year was the first time in a long time the Leafs started hot and fell off the face of the Earth. It's usually the opposite that HFboards chirps us for, which is starting off bad, and then winning when "the pressure is off" and "it doesn't matter anymore" to cause a late season push that falls short but gives hope for next year.

So you're most certainly right in saying that about last year, but you can't say always.

Toronto.

They are looking exactly like the 2009 Bruins. Suddenly they hit the right chemistry and bought into the system and the team flourished. It is about the atmosphere and team mentality and Toronto is coming into form.

Buffalo
Montreal
Ottawa (without Spezza)

It is very close. In fact by this weekend the list could be completely flopped and Montreal could be on another hot streak.
