Vlasic is definitely a shock, especially against Boyle and Burns? Whatever skating lessons the team has forced on some of these guys has worked out quite well. Vlasic, Couture, Pavelski, and even Clowe have all made huge strides from when they first broke into the league.

I wonder if Boyle and Burns actually skated in this?
He was going to win, but then he remembered the story his daughter read to him about how "slow and steady wins the race", and immediately thought of 'Steady Eddie'. He raced back to where Vlasic was at the end of the group, picked him up, skated him toward the front, and pushed him over the finish line before himself and Boyle.
Vlasics skating is super underrated soley because hes not a very explosive player. He doesnt have the best acceleration on our defense (id say Braun does), but I would not be surprise if he indeed has the fastest top speed among our dmen. The reason Boyle and Burns look like better skaters is that they are elite lateral skaters.

A healthy Burns is easily in the Top-5 among defensemen for straight ahead speed.
Burns is faster than Vlasic, I think he either didn't compete or is just not healthy still. Burns is one of the best skating d-men in the league, up there with Ehrhoff and Bouwmeester. This is pretty good confirmation that he isn't 100%

I think he just wasn't trying. Even if he isn't 100%, he's still been faster than Vlasic in-game.
