"Another thing of note, something that Friedman mentioned in his 30 thoughts, apparently Kessel never pays any attention to the media and doesn't care about any outside pressure. So in that regard he's the perfect player for a market like Toronto or Vancouver. That can't be underestimated and is likely another reason he scored so well in the playoffs so early in his career."

To me, that sounds like something anyone can/do easily just say without meaning it, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

This wasn't based on talking to Kessel. As far as I can remember, Friedman talked to GMs or other players about him and that was the consensus.

Judging by the look on Kessel's face last game he's feeling the pressure big time right now. He looked really stressed every time he missed.

Yeah I get the impression Kessel has pretty bad social anxiety. I don't think he could function in the public eye if he actually read press clippings and stuff.

Given that Luongo's NTC has a clause where at some point in time, he supplies a 5 team list that Vancouver can talk trade with for a specified period, is it not reasonable to speculate that if Luongo has given Gillis permission to investigate a trade, that this framework is being followed now. That is, Gillis has a list from Luongo of five teams he would accept being traded. Does this have merit and if it does, any guess who the 5 teams are?

Per @TSNBobMcKenzie: Yale frwd Antoine Laganiere is the player Mike Gillis and Laurence Gilman were scouting over wknd. http://******/hpVdq
I guess Washington really has no interest.

Antoine went to our prospects camp and i've been watching him most of the year (10-12 games). I can see why they are interested. Will get a NHL contract this spring.

I thought Washington would be a darkhorse for Luongo, but I guess it makes sense that they don't want his contract since they are paying a fourth line player over 9M for god knows how long.

This saga needs to end soon, for Schneider's sake, and for the sake of my hockey pool. It will take the stars to align for Gillis to pull the trigger though. Has to be a team willing to take on that salary and needs a goalie, a team that Luongo is willing to go to, and a team that is willing to give up an asset that satisfies Gillis. I could see Vancouver keeping Schneider and Luongo into the off season.

Oh, yeah, for conspiracy theorists, WSH isn't talking to VAN, has no plans to talk to VAN on any goalie. BTW, VAN isn't trading Schneider.

I think most Vancouver fans would be happy with that.

An interesting theory I had in mind.

We keep complaining about how AV is making the team play trap after getting a 1-0 or 2-0 lead? Perhaps this is the team's attempt to maximize Luongo's value?

also, scuttlebutt (no source, sorry, guy I know) has suggested to me that it was the Pens was who GMMG was interested in. talking about trading some forwards (like, depth forwards).
