It was similar when they played the Jets but we ended up winning. It's amazing to see a roster like that underperform as much as they have.

Last year they were a character team who won by goaltending and selling out to block shots....they gutted their 3rd line (allot of their heart and soul) to land Nash. Losing Dubinsky, Anisimov, and Prust has hurt IMO.

When I watched them play the jets last season I wondered if that "play every game like its the playoffs" style was sustainable. the Team seems to be tuning Torts out a bit this year as well. That being said if you have Lundquist it's hard to miss the playoffs unless things totally come off the rails.

Man, sports radio here in edmonton is ripping the Preds Sergei Kostitson (or however it's spelled) a new one because of his lazy play last night. It was pretty brutal.

For the curious..

I'm amazed by it. He did fess up to his mistake later though, said he didn't realize a 2nd guy was there. Still shouldn't have changed. When play is entering your zone that should be the last thing on your mind.

Horrible play by Kostitsyn. Horrible.

Even if Kostitsyn didn't know the 2nd guy was there, he should have still went back to support his defenceman, give him someone to get the puck to if he needed, but even with that said he should have been able to see the Oilers player was about to pick up the puck and go in 1 on 1 with his defenceman. Lazy, lazy, lazy. And, Kostitsyn stopped moving his legs before even getting out of the offensive zones blueline. Lazy bum.

Freaking Rangers. Win a ******* game.

I used to hate them when they bought all their talent. Then I hated them since they were an all-Czech team.

Now I actually like them since I like most of their players (Gaborik, Callahan, Nash, Boyle, Girardi) and they suck.

Screw that franchise all around.

I still can't believe how they have fallen. I really wanted a New York and LA Finals last year, just loved how big and physical both were. Both teams brought it all from offense, defense, goaltending. I picked a New York vs. LA Final this year, but the Rangers just can't seem to get it together.

That was brutal! He had to have known that there was only one other Pred back there with him - I really can't understand what he was thinking. Terribad.

Well, they've tied it up 1-1 in the 2nd. Only half-scr*w them? Of course, they way they're playing lately, they'll end up taking it to OT, AND give up the extra point to Carolina for good measure.

Sather can't help chasing the bright shiny objects. Nash is good but at what price....cautionary tale

It was on a radio program today but the quote was so perfect for the Rangers off season moves:

bill belichick "my job is to build a team not accumulate talented players"

Would be nice, but the best way to deal with these teams that don't want to supply any help in the standings is to simply keep winning. Every time I hope to see the Jets get some help, it rarely works out. That said, on Saturday, pretty much every game finished in favour of the Jets.

So, yeah.

And...Jets fall out of first in the division

Down to 7th we go.

Damn freaking Rangers.

Philly Tampa doesn't matter. Neither one is likely to come back to challenge for playoffs.

I believe now we want the Canes to win in OT to keep the rangers further back. I guess it depends if you look ahead or behind us.

Couple close calls by NYR at the end, but alas, no go.

Ces't la vie - would rather that the Jets simply keep winning than get help. Control their own destiny.

According to Sportsclub stats the only way to improve out playoff chances from the game was Carolina win in regulation, but it's 2% swing at best.

Like YWG said, most important is the Jets taking care of their own business. Jets get to 53 points (21pts in 19gp) and they should make playoffs. (80%+ chance of playoffs).

I'd prefer to have 56 or 57 points. You never know if a team behind gets hot

7th. Toronto holds the tiebreak on WPG (15 ROW vs Jets 14 ROW)

Hard for a team behind to get hot without taking points away from teams ahead/around. 56 points gets us better than a 50/50 shot at the division title, and it would be damn near impossible to miss playoffs at 56.

Obviously we'd prefer that, but 53 "should" be sufficient.

I really like these Carolina announcers. They're pretty unbiased to my ears.
