Hello Michalek, is Anybody in There?

Happy with the playoffs thus far, and I know this has been discussed, but what is wrong with Michalek? Is there any confirmation that it is in fact an injury or is that purely speculation? He has been invisible. You wouldn't even know he was on the ice without the announcers casually bringing up his name. Hes playing with no fire and when I do see him he is barely moving at all. It's sad, I actually like him as a player and when he plays with passion, he can be an effective player.

Can anyone else chime in on this situation?

Like Greening gets a massive boost from Spezza. He might be injured a bit at the moment, but criticize him if he doesn't produce with Spezza.

I'm guessing he's still suffering from the knee ailment. We will find out for sure when the season is over or if he becomes so beat up he can't play.

I thought he's been better tonight..

Especially in the 1st, he some good board battles, and took it to Subban a few times. But yes in general he has not been very good

He said on the team 1200 second or third game of the series that his knee is still messed up. And he is not 100%

Dudes playing with at least 1 bad knee right now.

A better game for him tonight but the first 4 were atrocious.

I hope so. I am worried about playing the Penguins. I still have nightmares over Malkin's classic walk in from the half board wrist shot goals.

probably not playing at 100%. mac is a good coach and will manage his minutes and lines accordingly.

MM9 did make a good defensive play in front of the net on the penalty kill.

He, like Karlsson, just doesn't have that extra gear that he usually does.

I doubt his knee is at 100%.

Tonight he saved a goal on the PK. But yeah, has lost a step due to the knee and certainly benefits from Spezza.

Still a useful player to have around but he is not himself. He and EK are both back, but neither is really back back.

He's a player that other teams have to worry about, and he is always matched up against the other team's top D. Even if he isn't his best because of the linger knee trouble he still makes life easier on the younger players on the second and third lines.

Hopefully a week of rest will do his knee some good.

Came here to point out this. Was it not only 2-1 or 3-1 at that point too?

That was his only positive contribution to the series, but I'll take it.

He had a chance to spring Zibby 4on4 by just chipping it off the boards and out, but instead he just stood there like a deer in headlights and waited for a hab to come take the puck off his stick.

Without his physical tools, he is fairly unhelpful to the team.

Yeah 2 straight playoff series he hasn't showed up on the score sheet much. He needs to get going for round 2.

It was close a game still, and it was a really important play. Might've even been right before we went down and scored the 3-1 goal.

He's clearly hurt, but as long as he's playing well defensively while chipping in some offense when he can, I'm happy with him.

Also, I hate his knees.

I'm one of his biggest detractors on this board I'd think

He had a solid game 5, real strong effort

He still sort of sucks offensively but we'll see if he can muster up anything in Round 2, I'm not expecting much to be honest. If he can play like he did tonight he'll be an asset rather than a blackhole.

I'll worry about individual performances when we aren't winning. As long as guys are scoring, the guys who aren't can work things out. Obviously it'd be great if he could pick it up, especially against the Penguins, but I'm not worried right now.
