Hansen gets 1 game, with Shannahan Video.

Brendan Shanahan and the NHL have suspended Hasen for 1 game for his, elbow to the back of Hossa head.

http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/con...03576&lang=en.

Think he did a good job showing it's not a hockey play. Guess his past of not being suspended is why he got only the 1 game and not more.

Eh, was hoping for another game or 2 but nothing worth complaining about.

I'll accept it, wondering about the downside of going after him with a pawn next game though.

Yes definitely.

In fact between that and the usual riot pictures and diving .gifs it might be the greatest GDT ever.

Hard to argue with the reasoning in the video. Seems right.

I love how their team isn't really dirty and the three dirtiest teams in the league are the Kings, Bruins, and then Hawks.

That's like us still whining about Detroit and Phoenix, pathetic.

No history (that's changed now of course). One game seems fine. Good explanation in the video. Let's hope Hossa gets back soon.

Didn't bother posting on the thread on the main board, since I didn't feel like arguing with dozens of incoherent Canucks fans, but I really don't see how you can watch that video and still say he was just reaching for the puck or that the contact was incidental. He clearly followed through with his forearm. Reckless, and 1 game was deserved.

Shanny saw exactly what I saw. Said he'd get 1 or 2 games and he got 1. Seems fair.

Not a big deal imo. Hossa's reaction to the whole incident seemed a little dramatic. Jmo.

You clearly have no idea how brain injuries work. None.

Only if I get to wear a helmet, it is with your forearm, and it's accidental.

I don't understand how anyone could watch that video and still say the hit was clean.

Again, showing your complete ignorance with respect to brain injuries. Guess what? Your brain doesn't care if you are wearing a helmet, get hit with a forearm instead of an elbow, or if it is accidental or premeditated. If you get struck, unsuspected, in the back of the head causing your head to snap forward (and your brain to move within your skull) damage can result. Especially after having a severe concussion in the recent past. Why don't you avoid embarrassing yourself further and stop posting on the subject.

The guy with a concussion history gets hit in the head doesn't come back to the game and he was diving?

yes, that dive was well worth it. I mean it's a close game and not returning to the game isn't as good as the 2 minute PP

If it was a dive/fake/sell, he would of came back to the game, especially for the last 5mins and OT. Anyone thinking he would sell an injury and miss an important part of the game like that is a complete idiot.

Thats all that needs to be said.

Bollix on targeting Hansen.

Frontier justice is better served by targeting someone of at least equal worth to Hossa.

Thankfully Hansen handled his punishment with all the class the Canucks franchise is apparently capable of:

Quote:
"Of course, you know that you are a repeat offender now if something happens again," he said after participating in Thursday's optional game-day skate at American Airlines Center. "You are trying to play an honest game and play the right way and not step too far over the line and it's unfortunate. But that's the way it is right now."

"It bothers me that you have that on your record now," he said. "Not that it makes any difference, I am not going to change my game in any way. I am still going to play the same way that I have always, but you have that on you now and if something happens in the future you are repeat offender."

Hossa, meanwhile, practised with the Hawks on Thursday and could play Friday night against San Jose.

"Doesn't surprise me," Hansen said of Hossa's quick return.

When asked to expand upon that remark, Hansen said: "I should probably stay out of that one."
So basically he's accusing Hossa of diving and thinks that he's above discipline for clubbing a guy with concussion history (who happened to be having a 2-goal night) in the back of the head.

Stay classy, Vancouver.
