Bluelines: Stirling bringing ole time hockey to the Island

Worst pick for a training camp this September has to be Wheeling, West Virginia choice of the Isles. Actually, it was ex-coach Peter Laviolette’s idea based on his minor league coaching experience there. Since the start of camp, players have beefed about the lousy ice; nor has the media been ga-ga about West Virginia as a destination.

Sorry that the media has to 'rough it a little' for the fruits of an NHL franchise...

Hey, Stan, providing an exciting vacation spot for the media is not the pupose of camp. And how would you know what Wheeling was like? I was there for four days and I didn't see you! Thankfully.

Granted, the ice conditions were not what they should be. "IF" they go back there, I'm sure addressing that will be a pre-requisite. But I actually found Wheeling to be a very nice place to visit. I spent four days, found something interesting to do every day and was never bored. The people were extremely friendly, even after finding out I was a "Northerner", and I would not hesitate to return there if the team goes back next year.
