I think a fair deal could be made here. Any way we can add miller+ for halak/elliot+tarasenko/perron? Either way I think Miller would put up ridiculous numbers in St. Louis and it'd be fun to watch
The Sabres just fired there coach of 15 years, if this team is not willing to blow it up now, then when? As far as I am concerned Vanek, Foligno, Ott, Kaleta, and Hodgson are they guys I am looking to keep. Pominville, Vanek and Miller are all free agents after the 2013-2014 season and I would like to keep Vanek and use the Pominville money elsewhere. So I am very open to dealing Pominville for the right price. I am willing to deal Miller for the right price but I would be open to resigning him for the right price as well.

I'd be very interested in a Halak+Schwartz deal for Miller. I really don't think he's going to re-sign here unless a new coach can come in next year and right the ship very quickly.

Exactly, Tarasenko would get you Schneider and some. Miller to me is a wild card...looks fragile mentally and the goalie position is the last place you want that attribute.

Respectfully disagree on Miller he's 32 years old which is the prime of his career. His age doesn't work against him at all. His contract is a little pricey, but I'm willing to bet there are quite a few teams willing to stomach it for less than a year and a half for an above average goalie. Your proposal for Miller wouldn't be enough for me to move him unless that prospect was a team's top prospect.

I can't imagine Miller's value to be lower than what Anders Lindback fetched this summer. Ignoring who's playing better at this very second, Chicago's bet would be that Miller's play is a bit more even, and that when Miller gets away from our trainwreck defense--both from defensemen and forwards--that he'll take off.
On an average defensive team, Miller's SV% would be 10+ pts higher. The degree of difficulty saves he's forced to make on a period-to-period basis is very high.

Like others, I have a sneaking suspicion that Ryan won't be eager to re-sign with us after next season unless we have a Habs-like turnaround next season--i.e., top-5 pick to playoff team. He can only put 8 teams on the NTC. I suppose he could block all possible destinations except the one or two cities in which he'd like to go--e.g., put St. Louis on the NTC, but exclude Boston because he'd never be traded there. But I think Miller would only include franchises not close to winning anything on his list, plus a few places he wouldn't enjoy (Toronto).
If Chocago could get Miller without sacrificing anything from the current picture... I think that's a great move.

Looking at the numbers, I don't think Chicago will have an issue next year. Buyouts for Olesz and/or Montador make sense...
Miller, currently, has negative value. He has not played well for a long time. Buffalo should be trying to basically give him away to free up cap-space.
