The first shot did hit Halak's chest, because he literally shot right in front of him. The end result was not a goal on that play, so there was a better play to be made. If he had shot 1-2 seconds earlier he would have had a better angle, and there would still have probably been a rebound.

It's now giving away 3rd period leads vs Oilers and Phoenix hurts looking at the standings.

So Blues fans on Twitter are saying that Olver "clearly targeted" Tarasenko, or that he "clearly elbowed him in the head" and so on.

I know that we were all (myself included) up in arms on the Landy hit...but this one wasn't close to that one at all, Olver didn't have any sort of elbow up high nor a follow through like Brad Stuart's.

And I believe I just heard Roenick say he thought that the terrible Hooking call on Barrie on Sobotka's breakaway "Deserved a Penalty Shot"....JR, you were a great hockey player, but being an Analyst just isn't your forte.

Thank god for Varly.

We need Landy and EJ back soon in the worst way.

Elliott grew in confidence as the game wore on. Barrie was good and made a great setup for Hejda in OT.

The worst player on the ice tonight scored the only goal for either team. Go figure.

Never have I seen a team look so defensively inept on a 4 on 4 as us but somehow we manage to win in OT's and shootouts. I don't know what it is, just plain luck.

There's really no point in analyzing it. The same players are good/bad on most nights. Elliott wasn't great but he provides some mobility and is no worst defensively so no harm in keeping him up, maybe he'll adjust as he gets more games like Barrie has.

Pulushaj wasn't very good, might as well put Sgarbossa back in for the next game. I woulda been in favour of scratching Jones but can't after that goal. Hejduk's injured so it might not matter. We should be thankful the goalie is who he is. We don't even need 4 top 4 dmen but Sherman has to acquire at least one and needs to get a PKer, I'm tired of Matt Duchene still having to kill penalties.

Well, I said during the first losing streak the Avs would need to be at 15 points after 15 games to be in decent shape to make the playoffs. I think we need to get to 50-55 though.

I'm a little confused about how olver hit his head anyway

Olver's 5'10 and didn't leave the ice

tarasenko is 6'0"

Tarasenko apparently has a bigger head (or had his head down)

Have nhl.com reversed the order of the three stars again? Cause they have Jones and Oshie at 1 and 2. And Varly is 3rd....

Roenick: "I think they enjoy playing for Joe Sacco, he's a real good coach..."

Other Guy: "I agree, they look like they're having fun"

Meh. We won but we clearly can't compete with the best teams in the west.

Ha, thanks Shatty

What a game, I mean the Avs pretty much played like crap but that was one of the best back and forth games I've seen, probably one of the fastest games this season... felt a bit like a playoff game..

It hit the top of his leg pads and almost snuck through. It then rolled out and Parenteau hit the top of his leg pad or it would have been a goal. So you'd rather he just shoot from the blueline(thats what 1 or 2 seconds earlier would have put him)than go in and CREATE(that thing he's being paid to do)scoring chances? Yeah. No.
