that video led me to some Mcphee fight videos....what a terrier he was....hey at least we know our GM and Coach can kick the **** out of all the other GM`s and coaches in the league.

Well, there's rhetoric, and there's rhetoric that burns bridges. These remarks are at least half way to that latter kind.
maybe, but it's the agent talking. when semin says it, then yeah. one tweet i saw today was from a russian reporter who says he interviewed semin and alex said nothing about leaving... we shall see.

Who did do anything on the offensive side o the puck this year, playoffs or regular season? I mean I guess Chimera in both and Backstrom in his shortened regular season but nobody else held up their end of the bargain.
And someone is going to give Semin a decent deal this offseason if for no other reason outside of Parise there are very few other impact forwards out there. It might only be a one year deal to start with but it will be interesting to see how he performs again on a team that tries to actually put the puck in the net.
7. Think the Capitals made one serious in-season offer to Dale Hunter, but it was (obviously) rebuffed. Of all the people I spoke to about his future, one believed he might stay in the NHL. The reason: the only thing missing from his resume was a Stanley Cup and coaching the Capitals gave him a shot.
8. This is going to be an interesting search for Washington. That team had some serious dressing room issues over the past season or two, but Hunter found a way to get them all to buy in. McPhee must find someone who can do the same, although what Ted Leonsis and Alexander Ovechkin have to say about the captain's role will affect that. (Very interesting quotes from Ovechkin in this Katie Carrera Washington Post story.)

This is where I strongly disagree with statistical analysis, which mocked Hunter's system as being terrible for puck possession and, therefore, determined he was coaching a style that allowed opponents to control the game. This is one where numbers don't tell anything close to the real story. They played hard, they played together and I would've liked to see how things evolved over the offseason. If it's decided that the team must go in a different direction, there are going to be some very unhappy players. It's a delicate balance for McPhee.
10. That's why Bob Hartley could be an intriguing candidate here. Ilya Kovalchuk loved playing for him in Atlanta. He'd get 21-22 minutes a night, with the best all-around play of his career prior to New Jersey. Ovechkin listens to Kovalchuk. The balance is getting Ovechkin minutes while demanding an accountable game. Could Kovalchuk convince him Hartley can do that?
11. ESPN.com's Craig Custance reported Monday that Alex Semin won't be back, although Puck Daddy's Dmitry Chesnokov indicated Tuesday that isn't necessarily the case. The whole thing reads like an "I quit!...You can't quit, you're fired!" kind of story. As much attention as Ovechkin gets, Semin's play is as big an issue among his teammates. For a couple years now, it's been debated whether or not Ovechkin would be better off with a split. Looks like we're going to find out. *(Unfortunately, Semin doesn't give interviews in English.)
12. One last note about Washington: Even referees think John Carlson is going to win a Norris Trophy someday.
17. There are those who argue that a first-round draft choice was a high price for winger Troy Brouwer. I’d make that deal again. He is a winner, on and off the ice.
18. Thinking somewhat along the lines of the Brouwer deal, I wonder whether the Caps might be able to swap the No. 16 overall pick in the 2012 draft for a top six forward to replace Semin.
19. Backstrom’s injury had an adverse effect on Marcus Johansson. I think Johansson is a better player when Backstrom is in the lineup. Johansson was timid in his second tour through the playoffs, while Backstrom had his coming-out party in his second tour through. I still remember noting how tough it had become to knock Backstrom off the puck in that first-round series with New York in 2009. Johansson needs to add that trait to his toolkit for 2012-13.
20. Joel Ward is as stand-up and honest as they come. I’d like to see him benefit from the coaching change. He’s a guy who can be effective – and productive – parked in front of the net on the power play.
21. I don’t believe Semin will be able to command the salary he was paid ($6.7 million) for last season in the NHL in 2012-13. He is as talented as any player in the league, and other clubs will have interest in him.
22. I’m anxious to see Backstrom healthy from the start of the season onward next season. When he is at his best, he is one of the top all-around players in the league.
23. Washington could ice a lineup next season that includes five home-grown defensemen: Alzner, Carlson, Green, Schultz and Orlov. I don’t think there are any other NHL teams that can make that claim.
