It is truly hopeless.

Go Orioles!

Go Ravens!

And now you really ought to find a second NHL team because following the Caps is a meaningless activity.
Well lucky me, I'm moving out to Colorado for school in the fall so I get a 2nd home team to root for.

Does this mean I have to stop hating on Varly though?

I'm desperate. What if we all became, for example, Bruins fans? If the Caps board was flooded with Bruins logos and Bruins talk—would Ted get it?

It'd be best if we unify around one team and BOS is easy to support right now.

Varly survived a stretch with the Caps—he deserves your highest respect.

The only thing we can hope for is missing the playoffs next year. There's no way McPhee stays if that happens... Right?

If McPhee survives this collapse, which was really just about his roster having no heart, then he's here for life. Three coaches, same result. So its not the system, the coach or the opponent. Its the players, specifically the core players, who disappear when needed the most.

So, multiple things.

First, McPhee did talk to the league about the officiating.

This system works well for us. We played well down the stretch and we played well in the playoffs. Really well.

At least he doesn't have his head in the sand.

Also, no surgeries planned for the offseason. Erat and Laich would have played Game 1 vs BOS. And Ovechkin sent Oates 20 texts, upset about the loss, until 2AM. Maybe Schultz should give Ovechkin a heads up about his message plan. Oates also gave the go-ahead for Ovechkin to go to the World Championships, said he would have stayed if Oates said no.

Nah, they'll just talk about how difficult it is to make the playoffs and that the fanbase should have cherished those flame-outs of years past. The expectation lowering began some time ago.

I'm on the Bruins bandwagon for the playoffs right now... didn't dislike them after our series last year like I usually do with teams.

Not sure us doing that on Hfboards would get his attention.
Could be wrong though.

@ChibiPooky, UC Boulder
And nice one on the Schultz text message jab. That'll never get old.

Rather a team from the West. How about San Jose? They always have playoff successes!

Ok, that's two! Let's find out. An exodus of Caps fans to Bruins fans is a good protest and gives us a decent team to root for.

Good luck in Colorado—that's a great state. Telluride/Mountain Village is a real nice spot but I think it's all like that.

There are columnists, posters and fans that would call this something akin to more excuse mongering.

However...I like it. I'm glad GMGM is sticking up for #8 and confirming what we all saw. Something DEFINITELY wasn't right.

Also glad to hear how Ovie was texting Oates a bunch and their communication level.

People can say what they want. We didn't play well in game 7 no question. Reality is that it should have not gotten to that point.

The suspicious officiating did affect how the team played and really toned down their aggressiveness.

They won't win with McPhee. It's beating a dead horse. I refuse to
believe he's delusional enough to accept that they lose each year because of luck. At this point he's a snake oil salesman and fans should stop attending.

I will not talk about the officiating in the playoffs. We are not going to talk about it. We were not happy with it. I am not talking about it.[/RH Memory QUOTE]

Really George? I wish he "didn't" talk about it 3 games ago. Showing up late for the party is not what it takes to help the team win a cup.

At this point, he should have made his point by incessantly stating no comment. Stating he is not allowed to talk about it. That it is frowned upon.

Why not go further? Lets declare all fans of the Caps acquire new teams and abandon the team? Then Ted will surely get the message!

Fact is that its easier said than done. A fan is a fan and has a certain attachment to the team. YOUR attachment level maybe different than theirs.

The Caps are like my dogs. I love them. Oft times they do stupid stuff and frustrate me. They jump up and eat my food. Dig through the trash. Destroy my new couch. Take a crap on my persian rug.

I get mad at them. In the end I calm down and still love them the same.

Others are free to get rid of their dogs in the same situation. They may not have the same attachment level I do to mine.

BobRouse,

I can't take your apologizing for Ted anymore. You don't seem like a malicious person but you are in txpd-land in terms of irrational excuses.

You are right Atlas. You have made me see the light. I'll fire Ted or perhaps file an injunction to get him out. No more excuses.

The only way to make a bold stance in this situation is to stop following the team altogether. We are all free to do that.

If we choose to stick around then we pretty much have to accept Ted and all the other warts and history associated with this team.

I wish it wasn't but its beyond my power to do what you want done with the team.

I've never had a beagle, but my girlfriend's Yorkie is pretty dumb. He'll get off my lap, turn around, "suddenly" notice me and freak out and start barking at me. But he's an old, crotchety, and probably senile dog (over 14 now!), so he gets a pass.

Yorkies are the scum of the universe. Those rodents were born senile.
