One guy I have time for is Drew Stafford.

He's a little on the expensive side 4 million 3 years left.

However, i think he can be the type of player that can play in the top 9 and add some additional offense and he can play LW & RW.

I know that he's been struggling this year but i think that the loss of Derek Roy has hurt the sabres tremendously on offense. Hodgson, Grigorenko, Gerbe and Ott at this moment isn't the ideal situation when it comes to the centre position.

Probably a case where you can buy low and hope that he turns things around with a new team.

He's 6'2", 214 lbs just in case you are wondering

The Flyers have acquired LW Simon Gagne from Los Angeles for a conditional 4th round draft pick, previously acquired from Phoenix.

Let the "Tambo couldn't make that trade?" talk commence!

Member when Jet fans said Oduya is an ECHL d-man? Sure looks better than an ECHL d-man to me.

I don't think Flyers are done, or the Kings for that matter.

the kings have to aquire another defenceman, at least common sense would think so but i also get they dont want to pay a high price for someone who may not be needed when they are healthy.

how much was gagne's cap hit? could they just be moving some salary?

whitney for jordan nolan please.

then use prv and/or petrell and harti for an uplgrade on defence

smyth/horc/nolan
eager/belanger/jones in the bottom 6.

No one is trading for Whitney.

He'll go to waivers. Someone will pick him up and he'll turn it around someplace else.

Speaking of the Hawks, I wonder if you could get Steve Montidor out of there, he's not a top-pairing guy or anything, but has some edge to his game and can play. He would be an improvement over all 4 bottom pair guys the Oilers have.

He's concussed right now.

I keep looking at PHI. They are always looking for d for some reason, but they have 5 guys making 3.5mil or more. I don't know what the fit is, but at some point don't they have to cut one of there guys?

Sure still would love Kyle Beach from the Hawks, I still think he turns into a player that we need.

They're thin on D so I don't expect them to trade any defenseman. Maybe a forward?

Kings clearing salary from their books could be a set up to acquire a d-man. Chime in the Whitney proposals. Whitney for "conditional 4th round draft pick, previously acquired from Phoenix."

I've always liked Gagne, but I wouldn't want him on this team aside from the obvious benefit of having him on the 2nd line with Gagner and both Schultz's on the ice together.

There's only two guys I would want out of there, Coburn and Meszaros

And too bad for Montidor

Definitely agree, I think beach would be a great fit here. I think CHI would want more than we're willing to give for him, though.

Ales Hemsky? I'd do that deal.

Don't you think thats a pretty steep price? If he works out here then sure, the value is fair. But the kid hasn't played an NHL game yet and his AHL numbers this year aren't exactly overwhelming.

I like Stafford but I'm not sure he's the guy we're looking for. He's not a bad winger, but he doesn't have the mindset that we'd ideally like to add.

He has the tools, but the physical play isn't as consistent nor is things like driving to the net consistently.

With how this season is going, I think it would be worth it wouldn't it?

I was thinking more along the lines of Alex Plante.

Struggling first rounder for struggling first rounder.

Bob Stauffer referred to Beach as "more of a suspect than a prospect" at this point, which is fair, because he certainly hasn't done much as a pro.

Nope, he hasnt done much at all, but I really think given the right situation he could be a nasty skilled player. I would play him on the 3rd or 4th line right now over any other.

The guy is 23, the same age as Plante, and has less NHL games played than Plante. Why would you even want him?

Edit: I see others already pointed out Plante. Plante for Beach straight up, why not.

... on the other hand, Greg Nemisz makes Kyle Beach look like a budding superstar.

A change of organization would be good for both players.

Don't hang on to a kid who you don't have a place for; give him a chance somewhere else.

It's just the right thing to do.
