So you think the Leafs should be completely ignorant of his crappy start?
We have a goalie who stands on his head when we play him, the problem is he gets injured WAY too much. I'm just not sure coughing up value for Hiller is the right thing to do at this point.. Don't act like you can't see it.
Hiller gets injured too. He's been injured this year and has played sub-par. Happened last year as well.

Now you are just making stuff up
His injury this year was tightness in a groin after a collision. Last year he had no injury and played lights out from January on and basically carried the Ducks.

So he was injured this year. Right.
How did he play before January. He was terrible the first part of the season -- as were the Ducks. But I guess other teams are supposed to ignore all that and focus only on the good?
You're assuming he wants a starting goalie, and he never said anything of the sort. You're leaping to conclusions here. Logic and facts will tell you both goalies are playing very well, and are on good contracts. If Nonis wants a vetran goalie, where do you get the notion he wants someone expensive cap wise and will cost assets to aquire? There is no logic in that whatsoever.
how much do you think it takes to get him? cause looking at the goalie market this summer i'm not sure it takes as much as you think

Thats not an injury. That is the equivalent of me rubbing my arm after someone hits me.
He followed up the FREAK vertigo injury by playing amazing int he seocnd half. i dont understand why you are even in this thread if Hiller sucks so bad and is so injury prone then leave. You obviously dont want him.
I wouldn't call it one, no. It's more like a side effect. However, that isn't even the point. The point is that the vertigo was an issue from the previous season, and he was still trying to get a handle on it.
Welcome to our world Ducks fans...now you get to go through page after page of fans telling you how Hiller sucks and is worth only a 2nd rounder. Enjoy.
The thing is that there will be a lot of goalies available lowering the price.
If San Jose struggles I think they will look for someone other than Neimi. Not sure if inter-division would be a facter but maybe they would be a good trade partner.

No, they aren't. Regardless of what fans feel they should and would, other teams will know what we're talking about. A guy that hasn't been consistent enough to be elite, but has been a top-5 goaltender in the league for long enough stretches (of at least half seasons) to be considered a very good starting goaltender. There's a lot of pretty good company he shares those exact traits with.

In terms of play, absolutely. But trade value doesn't correlate purely with play. Trade values are supposed to reflect a market price, and the market price is driven by supply and demand. And in Luongo's case, there's an NTC to severely limit the market. That itself forbids one from making statements about how the returns for either guy in hypothetical trades would compair.
Like I said in the OP I'd expect the Ducks to hang on to Hiller until the draft. It's full playoff push mode at least for now, and having two #1 capable goalies in the stretch run can be a huge plus. That being said, with this extension I'd fully expect to see Hiller dealt at the draft. With Anderson knocking on the door for the big leagues and Gibson ready for the AHL full-time next season, I think the timing would be perfect.
At the draft the Ducks would be looking to go one of two routes. They could either look to move Hiller for a veteran forward to offset the potential loss of Selanne, Koivu and others, or look to stock the cupboard with picks and prospects. I prefer option B, I think the Ducks have a lot of good young forwards who are ready to contribute and I'd like them to use Hiller to grab a couple extra 18 year old prospects from this deep upcoming draft.
Leaf fans better not say Reimer is better than Hillier.....ahhhhhhh here it comes
Reimer plus a Dman for Hillier should get it done. TO has some extra D. I say Gunnarson
This would be the stupidest thing they could ever do.... You know Fasth the guy that is pushing Hiller out the door? He's 6 years older and .004% better than Reimer I wont say Reimer is better than Hiller at this moment because Hiller has the experience to back it up, but there is no way in hell id deal Reimer straight up for Hiller who is 7 years older, hasnt nearly been as good this season and has an expiring contract next year.
Duck fans are overating Hiller based on past performance where everyone else is willing to pay how his performance is doing right now. Which is nothing to brag about.
