Good move for the Sabres. I was happy to see them keep Regier/Ruff forever and continue to be mediocre. At least they still have Regier.

He's still there. I would think if he were to go they'd wait until the offseason.

I agree, I remember reading that he had a 17 year plan. Guess he'll never see it through.

Leaves Trotz as the longest tenured coach, yes?

Who else has more tenure than CJ?

If you looked up the definition of "overdue" in the dictionary, you might see this press release.

Mike Babcock for one. 170 coaching changes in all since Ruff was hired.

Yup game passed him by. Would like to see some new blood there as opposed to a retread like Ron Wilson.

Fine by me....They have had our number this year, no matter how much they have sucked against other teams.

Got back after lunch and was surprised to see Ruff gone, but nothing lasts forever.

Longest tenured head coaches

Trotz - 1998
Babcock - 2005
Vigneault - 2006
Julien - 2007
Quenneville - 2008
McLellan - 2008

Hated playing Buffalo, they were a mirror of the way Ruff played....it was always a chippy affair and someone always seemed to get hurt.

Will always remember the pairing of Ruff-Playfair as one of the best name combos in history.

This caught my attention no doubt. Watched him play for Buffalo growing up and what 15 years coaching them.. Very long time. I think they did the right thing in letting Ruff go. Bring a new face to that organization & Start Fresh!!
