More rumors seem to say Rolston than Patrick. I don't really get making Rolston the interim. Patrick's not the greatest option but that's the nature of an interim coach. If Rolston were to become the actual (non-interim) next head coach I think I'd tear my hair out.

Rolston is much better than people think, he should be interim over Patrick.

I love how quickly WGR dismissed Dallas Eakins after a caller mentioned him 25 minutes ago.

What a bunch of tools.

Or would they roll without an assistant.
1 less does not equal without. Still have Adams and Teppo as assistants too.

I'm guessing they'd just roll with two. That's pretty typical, anyway.

as a business decision I could see Pegula deciding that we have a bunch of young talented assets on this team. To protect those valuable assets he wants to have people come in right away that are good with younger players and/or familiar with them in particular to ensure they do not fall apart while the new head coach process unfolds.

It's what I would do. Use Patrick and Rolston for the rest of the year and then do an exhaustive and thoughtful search for a new HC.

as a biz decision I wouldn't want to give up on that playoff money just yet.

Phil Housley could do the job I think

Could, but he's a high school hockey coach.

Yes, when he isn't coaching the USA to a World Junior Tournament championship.

Agreed. But let him get some pro experience first.

Be honest: How many HC's out there have jumped from, say, high school coaching directly to the NHL? I'd bet damn few, if any.

DR: Rolston as interim for the rest of season. If it goes well will have an opportunity to be a candidate for the HC.
