Honeymoon destination ideas

Hey folks, it's getting to be that time where I need to book a honeymoon and I need some suggestions.

Both the future wife and myself love the outdoors, but neither of us have ever been somewhere "tropical." Our vacations consist of road trips where we go quading, lol. While this makes me perfectly happy, and my awesome woman never complains and has fun, I think it's time for us to get on a plane and go somewhere with nice beaches and crystal blue water!

Just to make it easier, neither of us are interested in going to large metropolitan areas. No China, Vietnam, India, or most countries in Asia.

I was looking at Bora Bora and the French Polynesian islands, but damn that's a bit pricey! Now that you guys have a general idea where I'd like to go, lets hear some suggestions! I was also looking at the Bahamas, but just can't get over how awesome Tahiti looks!

Thanks for the help.

Oh wait. Uh, an island somewhere with a lot of sun. I hear Tobago is nice.

When in doubt: Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahamas, Key Largo, Montego.......or a little place called Kokomo. Anyone of those, you can't miss.

But in all seriousness, Fiji would be near the top of my list..

You shouldn't be asking us for advice. It should come straight from your heart.

Have you guys ever scuba dived before? It's really really awesome.

If you're going to go somewhere tropical, you should consider it.

It is expensive as balls though. Snorkeling is still pretty good in tropical places.

Yes scuba diving is something we will do, and have always wanted to try.

How about Costa Rica? You get the resort-like environment, beautiful weather, beaches, water, as well as the ability to wander about. You can go hiking, see volcanoes and national parks, go scuba diving, zip lining.

If finances are an issue, just get a hotel room or something. Obviously something higher-class, but nothing that's going to run you too much. It shouldn't matter where you go, as long as you're there with her.

If your heart is really in Bora Bora, save your money over the next year and go there for a 1-year anniversary.

I've been to

Hawaii - 9 hr flight from NY. Need at least a week to over come time zones and enjoy the trip. Lot to see and do, and can hop frop island to island.

Aruba - Weather is great, a few sights

Atlantis in Bahamas - Awesome hotel. great pools, has a cool tube slide through a shark tank, side by side racing slides, and a casual
tube ride. Expensive resort, especially food.

Jamaica - Went 20 yrs ago, would not go back. Not real safe, you
were suppose to stay on resort property.

Mexico - Cancun and Cabos - Stayed in all inclusives. It was nice, but its pretty dangerous in Mexico now.

Think about Cruises, although that news about Carnival was
pretty discouraging.

You can scuba/snorkel at all of these places. We usually took a
catamarang cruise and snorkle. Take a 2 hr cruise to get to the
scuba/snorkle spot, then on the way back its open bar.
Usually costs 100 - 130 a person.

If you really want to scuba Boniare island is suppose to be amazing.

I'd personally recommend Fiji, but that's just me.

Have you thought about Pripyat, Ukraine?

It's a big city with a lot to offer.

A ferris wheel

Go karts

A swimming pool

And even wonderful art and architecture.

You'll thank me later...

I was going to suggest Jasper/Lake Louise/K country, but I see you already live in Alberta.

Frankly I think it's so great here that most other places would just be a disappointment, scenery wise.
