Andrew Ference

Anything going on with Ference? Have him in a lifetime (keeper) hockey pool, and would like to know what is going on with him in Calgary. He's a lock to make the top 6, mais non? What, if anything, will he be doing beyond that? I'm guessing that he'll be on one of the two pairings for the powerplay. Will he make the first unit, or is he on the second? Also, any speculation on point totals for the year? I'm throwing 25 out as a possibility (say 6 goals and 19 assists), dependent of course on him playing the full year (something he's only done once in his career if you count 75 games as a full season). Does that sound about right?

Ference has been very impressive in camp

he'll probably play on the 'third' pair with Denis Gauthier 5 on 5

but I think he will play the first unit PP with either Leopold or Lydman

if not he's definitely on the 2nd unit

Flames players "burn" me too often, but I think he would be a decent sleeper to have on your team

Will he make the squad?

Warrener
Regehr
Lydman
Gauthier
Leopold
------------
Commodore
Montador
Buzek

I don't see Ference being a regular...Lydman and Leopold should provide sufficient offence from the back-end...I get the impression that Sutter prefers the big, strong and aggressive d-men...granted, Ference is pretty capable physically.

Completely agreed. I've seen him in practise, scrimmages, exhibition and last year and he's looked impressive. In fact he logged the most ice time on the team in the two exhibition games thus far. He easily makes the team, his position is not in doubt.

Ference has been one of the best in training camp so far, I expect Sutter to give him at least the #6 slot.

It's now more a matter of who is the 7th defenseman? Commodore, Montador, or Wallin? Buzek isn't even on the radar, as far as I'm concerned. I don't even know if he's still with the team, but if he is he's a lost soul.

Notice how Buzek kinda...well...disappeared and isn't at this camp?

Apparently he's been bought out but it can't become official until he's cleared to play. Regardless he's out of the org, out of our plans, etc.

You seem to be missing one defenseman before the cut-off point. I think Andy will make it and get PP time this year.

Ference has good puck skills and vision as we all know but he really impressed me with his strength. Doesn't shy away from physical play if needed and can handle players in front of the net.

BINGOV - you're missing Wallin on there as well.

Ference is entry draft elligable right?
Anyways, I think Ference has the 6th spot. 7Th will go to either Montador, Commadore, or Wallin
Of those I think only Wallin is waiver draft elligable, so hopefully we can move him for something instead of losing him for nothing.

you can scratch buzek from that list. and i'd also say commodore after having watched him last nite. he looked far too unsure of himself, and didn't seem to have the puck-moving capabalities of a the other 6th/7th dmen i've seen at camp.
