BOLD = Untouchable
Looking to make some trades, will consider talks with everyone who isn't bolded. Some will obviously have a higher price tag than others. Mainly looking to upgrade on defense and get some younger guys into the system.
Also looking to see if I could get a late 1st, early 2nd in this years draft.
San Jose is LOOKING to trade! Anyone except the BOLDED. Those who are bolded are untouchable unless my mouth salivates at an offer. Everybody else is available.

to 1st round pick (2013) + prospect Michael St.Croix
to Vincent Lecavalier
Its a lot to give up but I was having a hard time getting a 2nd line center elsewhere. TBs offense is hopefully on the rise depending on the real draft. Gotta cross my fingers for Vinnys health (modtly because I am a TB fan but this too lol).
It's a big move to make. I mean, I know that we're giving up some high end future talent, but we here in Ottawa believe that Zetterberg is one of the premier players out there, and with his talent we think he can be a very effective player for years to come. On defence we feel as though we were pretty strong already, and still have some depth after dealing away some promising players, but ultimately we feel this is the right move for us as an organization now and moving forward.
Does anyone have any ideas for Free Agency? I don't want to do it the same way as it's been in previous years with agents because that takes a lot of my time. I also would like contracts to be the same as NHL deals..
I was thinking everyone could pick a number of players they are keeping and dropping (same as re-signing and not re-signing) and then we could do a draft for the players available including guys like Danny Dekeyser and Torey Krug who weren't drafted. Any other ideas?
I thought we were just going to take whatever contract was given to the free agents for this season at least and get to keep the guys.
SO DID I. That is part of the reason I was so eager to trade away Zetterberg and Lecavalier, so that I could sign my free agents! Ahhhhh! At least give us a crack at signing them, like in the real NHL! I have five UFAs and have wanted to try and re-sign them before they are lost! I also have three key RFAs I need to resign. This issue is huge for my club.
Why the heck would we have drafted UFAs in the main draft this spring if we couldn't keep them for the first season of play at the very least!! It makes no sense. The time to put a limit on UFAs would have been before the draft and then we wouldn't have drafted many of them.
Suggestion: let us sign UFAs to one-year contracts at whatever they sign for this summer and then next summer do the UFA draft idea. Now would be patently unfair given we have just drafted them (not long ago, and got no use out of them).
I think you guys misunderstood. You're not losing your Free Agents. Our free agency period always ends up with bad players unless there are free agents on a team that isn't active and hasn't signed them. That is a big problem for why the teams are so uneven.
My idea was that you would list the players you would retain and the one's you want to let go. Once these players are signed in the real NHL that's the contract your player gets in this league. The players that are not retained go into a draft with players who were un drafted.
That way we won't have the whole league going after Danny Dekeyser and I won't have to wake up with 30 PM's a day from offers on players because I can't find any people to act as agents.
