Exactly, that's why Porter should be getting the look. If we were a little further away from the playoffs, I'd prefer Cody Mac in over Jochen, too. If we fall out of the race, I seriously hope we just eyeball any talent in the pipe. Playing Jochen and Scott in unnecessary games will really annoy me.

I don't think any of the guys hated Ruff, to be honest. I think Ruff's message got old and tired. It's the same thing they've been told over and over again, and recently, it hasn't worked. When that happens, it becomes difficult to overcome for a coach.

There's a phrase that says, "coaches are hired to be fired". Very few keep their jobs as long as they want, so it's almost inevitable you're going to be removed at some point.

He can leave with his head held high. He did great things for the Sabres. The players know that, too. And even if they didn't agree with his message, I can bet you a lot of them felt remorse for their lack of solid play and helping in the removal of their coach.
