Who would be your next Jets bench boss?

Personally... I like Noel but I notice not a lot of people do not want him here. I think his post/pregame comments can be hilarious at times and his coaching sometimes can be seen as a "wtf?" but we must all keep in mind that he doesn't have a big resume and I'm sure over time he will be a really good coach.

Thrashers had 5 different coaches and only one of them was able to get them to first round in playoffs and that was Bob Hartley(coach of Calgary Flames now).

So with all the coaches that are jobless who would you like to see as the new jets bench boss if it were to happen?

Hard to say. I think he's here for at least one more season regardless. So who knows what other coaches are available in a year or more.

I think it was mentioned in another forum that the most likely candidate would be Perry Pearn.

Possibly a ***** like Ron Wilson or Mike Keenan.

Someone who holds the players accountable for poor efforts.

Don Cherry.

I don't see Claude Noel being let go. He is very crafty and is doing a good job. The talent on the team is lacking on the 1st line for forwards, defense and we don't have a quality #1 goalie.

Not very many top candidates available right now IMO. I'm not a Crawford fan, but he'd be a big improvement. Eakins probably wouldn't leave TO for this. Guy Carbonneau or Gerard Gallant would deserve some consideration.

I will make up my mind after Noel gets let go.

See what the coaching pool looks like at that point

I think you can take Ron Wilson off the list if that is your criteria.

I would love to start a campaign!

He's a no nonsense coach that gets results. Very stern, but rewards his players with good play. Tough on the youngsters though which can be a good thing.

Sign me up!!!

Dale Hunter.

I scoffed at his original hiring in Washington. I was wrong.

He does what Noel won't. He sits the best player on the team who won't buy in.... even with owners breathing down his neck.

He brings a system. The players are correctly taught the system. The players execute the system. The team makes the playoffs. All things we currently seem to be devoid of.

He is available, and his results with a 'street hockey' team are exactly what we need.

From someone who knows very little about coaching, my observations are as follows:

During the game he might as well be in the press box instead of behind the bench. He appears to do NOTHING but watch the game. There is no engagement with the players, never giving them a pat on the back after a good shift or telling them about a mistake that they should avoid if they have done something wrong. I would think when you have a young team like we have, the coach should be much more engaged during the game.

The players are not stupid. They have almost had great success at one point in time. We have a roster full of high draft picks, several that have represented their countries in international competitions. Hockey is not that complicated of a game and it shouldn't take two years to get systems in place that our boys can learn and execute effectively. Something is either wrong with the systems or the way they are being explained.

Again, I know little of coaching, but a good coach should be able to motivate his players, have an effective game plan, and communicate the plan to his players so they can execute it on the ice. I really can't see where Noel is doing a great job in any aspect of these. I really like a lot of our players. Not so sure about the coach.
