Iginla or Alfredsson?

Just for fun. I don't think we will get either, but who would you prefer if they cost the same? Both guys are arguably the best players in their respective franchise's history, which could possibly affect the price.

I'm going to say Spooner, Koko, and Subban are not included, since the general consensus seems to be that these guys should not be traded unless it the return is a young player who can play now. Just for argument's sake, say the cost is Caron, Knight, and a 1st or 2nd. You can change the cost if you want, but the point is both guys cost the same

Who would you take?

Neither. Both will be too costly to obtain, especially for what they'd bring. If you're going to give top prospects, make sure it's for a younger guy and one that's signed beyond this year...

Just for rental price and cap issues trying to keep Iggy I voted Alfie.
But if Chiarelli could make the cap work and resign Iggy then he's a great fit in Boston.

Iginla.

Iggy is the better goal scorer, is more physical, and far more durable. Everything else is pretty much a wash.

Imo there is no chance we get Iginla only to place him on a third line that emphasizes defense first and has a black hole (Kelly) offensively this season. If we do get him without giving up a top 9 roster player than Horton has to be dropped to the 3rd line and based on how there playing this year i would put Paille with them and drop Kelly to 4th line /PK specialist.

Lucic DK Iginla
Marchand Bergeron Seguin
Paille Pevs Horton
Kelly Campbell Thornton

I doubt we get him as the price will be to high but man that lineup looks unreal.

Iginla is getting called out for indifferent play by former teammate, don't think Alfredsson will ever be.

Alfredsson is the guy

I'll go with Alfie. I think the presence of either would involve a change in some roles, namely Bergeron's.

i think the people pining for iginla are in for a pretty rude awakening if the bruins get him.

alfredsson would be nice, but expensive. he's still who i'd rather have over the two of them. alfredsson has always been a more complete player than iginla. that ages better than goal-scoring wings.

I've always thought Iginla would make a good bruin, maybe like a slightly faster Rechhi type? however I don't think it's likely considering he's got a young fam in Calgary, and I'm assuming he wants to retire a flame.

no way, he'd be excellent on our third line

the question is what does Calgary want for him?

Iginla.

I give up the Kessel package (2 1sts and a 2nd) + Koko + Subban for Iggy and Irving. (Irving would give us a quality, long-term backup for Rask).

That being said, I'd be ecstatic to receive either, though I think Morrow is a much more viable option that I think could fill the same role. despite his exclusion from this poll.

Wow. That's quite a bit to give up for a rental. For a signed Iggy for three years that might be alot.

Holy overpayment, Batman!

Iggy is what, 36? 37? and on an expiring contract. It would be straight up silly to give up that package for him. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big Iginla guy, absolutely love what he brings (or brought, haven't seen him at all this season), but come on! A prospect and a first/second, that'd be my limit for either him or Alfie (and I love him too). Add a conditional on re-signing or cup win. I'm all for loading up, but gross overpayment is not the way forward. If they cost more, you go for guys like Morrow that you mentioned that probably can be had for a second or Caron/equivalent.

Iginla only has 1 goal this season.

I'd take Alfredsson, even though him firing a puck right at Scott Niedermayer in the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals was one of the most bush league moves I've ever seen.

It'd be Iggy for me. Yes he hasn't played up to par of late, but when he is on, he can be a huge difference maker. I believe a change of scenery, and playing less minutes, would help get him back to playing a little more like the Iginla of old. Also this is no knock on Alfredsson, he'd be great as well, but as another poster stated, he's not as durable.

You need to watch the Flames more, Iginla is aging, fast.

Giving up pair of firsts, a 2nd, a good center prospect and a guy we picked in the first round 8 months ago for 1 month and a half of Iginla and a back up goaltender (who we already have in the minors) is a ridiculous over payment.

I'd offer them a 1st and a Jared Knight and I think that is a little steep.

You are right, I'd love to get Morrow. He would fit perfectly on the 3rd line. I'd also GLADLY take Mike Ryder back.

I am hoping the Stars drop out of it and become sellers. I do want them to win tonight though (playing Vancouver).
