IMHO you can't beat Billy Crystal. Funny, quick-witted, at ease and self-deprecating. That's what the Oscars needs.
Exactly. Someone who's smart enough and self aware enough to realize that they're not the show. Crystal has certainly lost his fastball (in terms of relevance to the movie business), but he's like a favorite tee shirt that you hang onto even though it's seen better days. It's just comfortable and feels right.

I like how in my entrepreneurship class this girl was first embarrassed to say that the business she wants to open was a strip club and now 2-3 classes later everyone is still all giggle about it.

The class didn't like my suggestion for her business as Boobs, Booties & Boos

They must have some real attractive people working there if they're getting this kind of a reaction...

You're better than I am. I would have been there less than an hour before bailing for lunch.

Back when I first got out of college, I was working my first real job during the day and as a waiter at an Outback at night. Any time food died before it could be served, the cooks would put it out in the window and let everyone know they could have it. The same 10 people used to swarm around like vultures as if they'd never eaten before. It was gross. Best time was when the cooks put up a fake sundae made out of lard. They all attacked it like usual and were so mad after they got a mouthful of hot fudge covered crisco...

i said it in another thread here but i've never eaten at mcdonald's since i worked there.

i was stuck working the grill after one hour's failed work up front taking orders. i'd cook 9 small burgers at a time, load them into a tray, put a sticker on the tray and put the tray in the warming center and start the alarm. i honestly don't remember how long they had, maybe 20 minutes? it was one alarm, hit the button, the second alarm meant they went in the trash if they lasted that long.

we had one fool who worked making the sandwiches who would just press the button like it was his job. we had a woman come back from getting an order on the drive thru. her mcburgerwhat'sit patty might as well have been leather. the ****ing dunce must have left this burger in the warmer for 45 ****ing minutes. i swear to god you could fold it in half. of course this ended up as my fault for not "checking the trays" while captain shortbus was absolved for pressing the button and silencing the alarm too many times.

I grew up in Cali, and remember them well. I also remember In-N-Out, which is worth every bit of hype it gets.
