I believe that was the 1st or 2nd whistle in the period, they hold you at the gate until a whistle. Thats why the platinums always look empty at first.

No kidding after watching Scott handle Thornton pretty easily I was looking forward to seeing him get beat but that was far from a beating. Can't believe leafs fans are calling this a beating. Talk about being a homer!

I think part of it is that Scott is so big and so built up that any time anyone gets a narrow win over him it just gets blown out of proportion.

Mclaren won but it wasnt a one sided beating.

Didn't look like Scott quit to me.... looked like McClaren lost his balance ..went down a little... Scott could've of landed a big blow but decided not to be a cheap shot artist and let it go.

McClaren did win tho...no ass beating tho.

McLaren with the win. It looked like Scott was going to fall over right off the bat. It might have been better if he did. McLaren's jersey work seemed to frustrate Scott into bailing at the end. I'm not impressed with the guy.

Narrow win for Frazer McLaren. He landed some good right hands in the beginning of the fight, but after that, his punches weren't even close to landing. Impressive fight from Frazer McLaren, he used jersey jabs to his advantage.

What the hell is going on with fighting in the NHL today? Frazer McLaren beats John Scott and loses to Chris Thornburn (Thornburn has improved). Colton Orr also beats John Scott, but has difficulties with Kevin Westgarth. Also, John Scott easily TKO'd Shawn Thornton in their fight.

Who's going to be the heavyweight champion this year (probably Colton Orr)? We need to have Brian McGrattan, Steve MacIntyre and Matt Kassian playing this year. Too bad that they most likely won't get a chance play this year (although Brian McGrattan and Matt Kassian play in the Western Conference).

No. I'd rather not see him fall over and then have delusional Leafs fans saying something along the lines of, "HoLY **** ClEaR TKO!!1!".

LOL, you are right. Leafs fans still believe that Wendal Clark beat Marty McSorley in a fight during that Kings vs. Leafs playoff series.

Is fight again Thorburn was a draw. Blood don't give you a automatic win

I don't know how people can describe that fight as being NOT a clear win for McLaren? He beat Scott very convincingly, I don't think he could do it routinely, as I think he got an early unexpected shot in, putting birdies around Scott's head for the remainder of the fight... which is why Scott might have decided to call it at the end, opposed to throwing a punch when McLaren was in a vulnerable position, the risk with that being McLaren might get back up.

Having said that, have to lol at leaf bashers saying it wasn't a clear victory by McLaren. Scott didn't land a shot at all, jabs or not, McLaren did some damage.. and won it unanimously. I guess the only way McLaren would get credit for this victory, is if Scott bit part of his ear off.

Edit: McLaren had an almost sorry expression on his face after the bought.

I guess we're going to ignore the open cut on Scott's temple.

I thought Thorburn landed better quality punches. Blood is never a factor.

If you want to watch Scott get beat just watch him vs. Orr

Scott has always been overrated as a fighter he has been exposed this year.

Leafs fans... figures.

Not much of anything. Grabbing and swinging, nothing really connected. Scott stops because he's at the end of the shift.

Not enough happened to call a winner, but whatever. Seems like one of those "everyone wins" fight, really - players, teams, fans, game, etc.

You got it exactly right but the children on this site choose to see what they want. Classy move by Scott not to hit him when he was losing his balance. Class - something missing in many of the posters here.

was at this game. didn't think mclaren would go with him. was real surprised when he more than held his own.

one thing i really ike about scott is he doesn't throw any punches when the other guy is down.
