With outdoor games there is the chance that poor ice conditions could cause injury. Having a high intensity game on poor ice might be a bad idea. I'm also not convinced that the US audience would care. When the US won the World Cup in 96, was it a big deal? The Olympics are big because, well, it's the Olympics.
Terrible idea.It would seclude non-Canadian/American players and deprive the fans from being able to watch them. Also, the quality of play would be similar to the ASG, the game would mean nothing and 2 million split 20 ways is peanuts for these guys.

I think North American vs. World would be a more interesting match-up...
This. The NHL would make so much profit off of this, just for one game. Have it nationally televised, make new jerseys, advertise it similar to 24/7 (to a lesser extent because they would have to follow 30 teams).
Well the thing is those two would generate the largest TV audience. You don't need to have Europeans, and a North America vs World is too all star like. People play harder when it's for exclusive national pride. Maybe you do another one with Russia and Sweden in Europe. Like play that one at 2 and at 6 broadcast the main event
