True. Not to mention the addition of Galchenyuk, Gallagher and Prust with the potential of Lars Eller has left us with some very good forward depth. The Habs seem to be a well rounded team this year. Not saying they'll compete for the Stanley Cup or anything, but they should be able to give some trouble to any team they face if they make the playoffs.

This is the current top Eight in the east.
1 Montréal
2 Pittsburgh
3 Tampa Bay
4 New Jersey
5 Ottawa
6 Boston
7 Toronto
8 Philadelphia

I predict that while that order will change it going to stay pretty much the same except for two teams at risk.

With only intra conference games this year and 3 points games a six points lead on 9th place is pretty much a clinched playoff spot by now. So you can punch the playoff ticket of the Habs with 8 point lead on 9th place, Sens 6 Pts, Devils 6 Pts and Pens 6 Pts. And likely the Bruins who may have just 4 Pts lead on 9th place but have only played 14 games.

Leafs and Flyers have only 4 points and 3 points lead on 9th place and played more than anybody else this will put them at risk if a team who not in the playoff picture make a run for it. By the way that starting to sound like a big "IF".

Note that as of now only Tampa in the Southeast is making the playoff and that only because first divisional place give you an automatic top 3 seed. But with most of the teams so far out of the eight ball I predict the only spot still open by the end of the season will be for top of the Southeast.

those arnt 'really' the current top 8 though, thanks to GP imbalance and ROW differences.

this is the current east top 8
Montreal
Pittsburgh
Tampa Bay
---
Boston
New Jersey
Ottawa
Toronto
Carolina

we're on week 6/16 now, 40% through the season.
at week 11/27 last year, the east according to SCS looked like this:
Philadelphia
Boston
Florida
NY Rangers
Pittsburgh
New Jersey
Washington
Toronto

and the only change of playoff teams was ottawa taking toronto's 8-seed.

I was excited for you guys when you got Prust, knew that would be a difference maker.

And agreed, I think MTL has a good enough team to make the playoffs and they are probably more of a play-off built team than regular season anyway, so if they get there they can probably do pretty well.

I'm not saying MTL would have won the cup with Patches, but like I said 3 times the bruins beat the habs by 1 and the one that wasn't a 1 goal game was 4-2 on an empty netter. That gives patches 4 opportunities to completely change the outcome of games.

As for calling Chara a diver, how many diving calls did he have with the Sens? Did that drop off because he suddenly changed his ways, or joined a team where diving was antithema to their reputation?

For the Rangers to beat the Habs in 5 we'd have to win at least 2 games in Montreal/score a goal in Montreal. Any Rangers/Habs series unfortunately goes to Montreal in 5 good sir.

This is the single stupidest post I have read on this board in a long time.

Even in thread with ZERO link to the "Chara incident" Hab fan finds a way to bring it up....again.

BTW, Hab fan, bringing up "diving" is kind of hilarious. Take a long look at your team and its history.

The Bruins won the Cup in 2011 and on the way beat your team in 7. All your whining and moaning won't change that....EVER.

On topic: I see a lot of people having the Habs winning the division. No chance. The Bruins are winning the division, and by a comfortable margin. They will be able to rest their keys players on the last weekend.
