This feels as bad as any breakup. It had to happen but it hurts and your heart goes out to the other person.

Closing words..."I've been driving from Tim Hortons to Tim Hortons, rolling up the rim"

Good Luck Ruff!

Class act right there. Must be hard for him right now. Still keeps saying "we" referring to the team.

It's really a shame he never brought a cup home to Buffalo, because winning one with him would've been special. He's a great guy and a good coach whose time here was just up. I hope he finds success wherever he goes next.

The guy knows how to give a presser, that's for sure. Nicely done, Lindy, nicely done.

You know what the good part of him being let go is? We, as fans, can get back to loving Lindy Ruff. There's a lot of tough parts, many. It was probably the right time for it to happen, but that doesn't make it less painful.

Although, again, I doubt we see too many anti-Ruff sentiments around here any time soon. Which is great.

Thanks, Lindy. For everything.

I can't imagine what the guy is feeling right now.

Thanks for everything, Lindy (not that you're reading this, but anyway).

It's like after it's all over you start questioning whether you did the right thing by ending it. Usually a few days later you realize you did, but it still hurts.

Fair point. I'm sure many of use hated "hating" Lindy Ruff.

It's sad. Who didn't want us to win The Cup one day with Ruff as coach? But, then again, who really believed we could? That's a difficult spot.

Very true. That's exactly how I feel now. I know in my head that it was time for him to go, but in my heart I wish he could have stayed and won a Cup with this team.

No, don't you understand? It's been scientifically proven that those teams succeeded in spite of Ruff and would have done better with anyone else behind the bench. Just ask Jame, he'll tell you all about it.

I just listened to the whole press conference on wgr550.com and even though Lindy didn't have to do that interview, and even if he did, he didn't have to say all the nice things he said. He thanked everyone he needed to thank. He acknowledged his lack of surprise as to being fired. He apologized to the fans, and the pegulas. He was very candid about what he was feeling and thinkin, mentioning that it was too hard to watch the sabres game last night, and that he was reaacking his brain to see what he could have done differently. I think after a career this long, you can't be bitter, because you were given many many opportunities with many different sets of players to make something happen, and pretty much any other team in any other sport would have fired him at some point long long ago. I think Lindy ruff will probably be a coach or assistant coach for another team and maybe with a clean slate and a new city he can make some personal changes besaed pn his evalution of his performance in buffalo, and actually do things betting with another team.
Anyways, I will always have a soft spot for lindy, even though he had to go, and pretty much everyone agrees on that. I think his press conference was absolutely perfect and made the people of buffalo feel like he cared, and still cares about the team and the fans and the player/former players. I think it was a very good move.....I honestly would like to see him maybe do some color commentary or have a hockey show on MSG or wgr.

Ya, I feel like you guys do. Just kind of empty about the whole thing, even though he's had me angry for years. There were certainly a lot of good times. I think emotions will change again when he finds a new team.

btw, thanks for the impromptu on the presser. It saved me from having to actually listen to it.
