The first round was absolutely unreal, great job everyone. REALLY showed how many good prospects are left for the Canadiens at 27, also shows potential for later rounds, for everyone really. Pray Timmins does as great as everyone here has thus far.
At the 27th selection of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the Montreal Canadiens selected from Malmo of the Swedish Allsvenskan league, Left Winger Andre Burakowsky
"Andre Burakowsky is a skilled winger from Sweden with nice size to go along with his skill. While he does not throw his weight around, he does not shy from the traffic areas and will go to the boards or the front of the net. His skating (speed, agility and acceleration) allow him to be a threat. To go along with his quick feet, Burakowsky has an excellent pair of hands, able to deke and gain the zone and get off a quick, hard and accurate shot. If Burakowsky can put all the tools together and learn to trust his teammates more, he could be a game breaking talent on the wing at the NHL level."
"With the 34th overall selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the Montreal Canadiens are proud to select from the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League, Right Winger, Zach Nastasiuk .
"Nastasiuk adds grit and size to the wing position of the Montreal Canadiens prospect pool. We believe that a team could have taken a chance on him in the first round and are thrilled to see him fall to us early in the 2nd round. Nastasiuk knows how to play without the puck as well as with it. Nastasiuk needs to improve his skating a bit to catch up with his frame but we believe that his offensive upside is higher than originally thought.. He scored at a near point per game pace in the OHL play-offs and followed it up with a nice performance at the U-18s for Canada."
Going BPA with a few things in mind that may tip the scale of a few players tied. Definitely want to come out of the draft with a game-breaking forward (Burakowsky).. and I want some big customers who can score and throw their weight.. got Nastasiuk so far, let's see if I can add more..
I went back and forth between Nastasiuk and 3 other guys, hopefully the next selection takes one so I'm not back to doing the same.
With the 36th selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the Montreal Canadiens frustratingly select from the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League, forward Jason Dickinson
"Jason ended last year with a solid showing in the play-offs. He has grown a few inches since being drafted into the NHL and while he has not filled out his frame yet, he is still tough to knock off the puck. Dickinson has versatility in that he can play center or wing and we are hoping he can develop those flashes of brilliance into something that is more consistent and refined. First round size and skills, Dickinson possesses great hockey IQ, quick feet for a big man and nice hand-eye coordination. Dickinson has shown a development in the nastier side of his game this season and we hope he can develop that further."
Next GM will be PMed.. Having two picks so high in the 2nd round actually sucks more than I thought it would. I'm going to be sad when the guys I want are selected before my next pick. I wish I could take them all.
